Trump administration declassifies unconfirmed intelligence on China bounties on US forces in Afghanistan: report
Joseph Choi 7 hrs ago
The Trump administration is declassifying unconfirmed intelligence that indicates China paid nonstate actors in Afghanistan to attack U.S. soldiers, Axios reported Wednesday.
Two senior administration officials told Axios that the intelligence was included with President Trump's briefing on Dec. 17. Administration officials from multiple agencies are attempting to corroborate the information. If the information is indeed true, it could drastically change China's relationship with the U.S. and heighten tensions between the two superpowers.
The officials who spoke to Axios did not say where the information came from or what period of time it covered.
Axios noted that China has mostly remained out of Afghanistan while speaking to Taliban officials about peace deals. However, Chinese-made weapons and funding have intermittently made their way to Afghanistan, the news outlet reported.

(1,832 posts)The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan says in a new interview that he has not seen evidence to corroborate claims that Russian officials placed bounties on U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East.
Speaking with NBC News, Gen. Frank McKenzie said that reports in The New York Times and other media outlets indicating that U.S. intelligence officials were investigating reports that Russia was offering bounties to Taliban fighters for targeting U.S. service members had not been corroborated by evidence he had seen personally.
"It just has not been proved to a level of certainty that satisfies me," Gen. McKenzie told NBC News, adding, "We continue to look for that evidence. I just haven't seen it yet. But ... it's not a closed issue."

(349 posts)-China doesn't act like that.
-China has nothing to gain by acting like that, and everything to lose if they got caught.
-Trump, as mentioned above, wants to look tough on China while seeking to appease Putin.

There are unconfirmed reports of widespread election fraud, have you heard?
Is this China info release an attempt to legitimize material that is unconfirmed? One rubs off on the other?

(65 posts)the Russians paying bounties was "unconfirmed" as well, but we never saw it... huh...
Two, notice how Trump hasn't said anything about either? Nothing, even about China possibly doing it...
And the Chinese made weapons.... ISIS has weapons that say "U.S. Army" on them, U.S. Cars, and some of them have financial ties to the U.S.
