Ohio governor signs bill requiring women to choose burial or cremation of aborted fetal tissue

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R ) signed a bill Wednesday that will require any aborted tissue to be either buried or cremated, leaving the decision to either the female patient or the clinic and penalizing whoever fails to decide.

The bill signed on Wednesday also states, “the pregnant woman is responsible for the costs related to the final disposition of the fetal remains at the chosen location.”

Those who are found to have failed to meet the requirements defined in the bill are subject to face, “a misdemeanor of the first degree.” If cremation is chosen as the form of disposal then the remains must either be placed in a "grave, crypt, or niche" or scattered in a "dignified manner."

Laurel Powell of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio told local ABC-affiliate News 5 the law was not necessary.

my suggestion was that a third choice be added to point out the absurdity of this bill. Of course it's no one's business what a woman does with her pregnancy, and it's also no oe's business what a man does with his jizz-filled Kleenex.

I didn't comment to start a fight, I just proposed adding a scientific option to the existing legislation.

The vast majority of therapeutic vs. spontaneous abortions occur prior to 10 weeks gestation. How is cremation or burial even possible when the actual fetal tissue (if it could be isolated from the products of conception) is only 1/2-1 inch long?

After all, if the sinful woman wasn’t doing something wrong, she would not have lost her baby. Be on notice: this is seriously where it is going, and in some cases has already gone (Fresno, California, for instance).
