Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious diseases expert, pushed back on claims by President Trump Sunday that the federal government has exaggerated the COVID-19 death toll.

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Fauci was asked by guest host Martha Raddatz about a tweet by the president calling the coronavirus case and death toll “fake news” and blaming it on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention methodology.

“Well, the deaths are real deaths. I mean, all you need to do is to go out into the trenches, go to the hospitals, see what the health care workers are dealing with. They are under very stressed situations in many areas of the country, the hospital beds are stretched,” Fauci responded.

“People are running out of beds, running out of trained personnel who are exhaustive right now. That's real. That's not fake. That's real,” he added.

8. I know of 11 deaths from Covid-19

I know only one of the victims personally. The survivors are people I know who are friends or relatives of the other victims. Only one of the survivors has lost more than one person to Covid-19. The rest of the survivors live all over the U.S. and lost people in their own circles.

There are 8 other people who I knew who passed away this year, but I don't know their cause of death. They were all different ages, and different health situations. 2020 was supper hard, overall.

How many of us said goodbye to people over this last year? When we are talking about over 350,000, maybe up to 500,000 so far, we are moving from "I know someone who knows someone who was sick or died" to "I know someone who was sick or died." It is sad to say that the only way some of the dolts out there are going to become aware of reality is when they lose a loved one to this unfettered sickness.
