Pelosi reelected speaker as new Congress prepares to be sworn in
Source: CBS News
Washington -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was reelected to a new term to lead the chamber as the 117th Congress convened Sunday, with the California Democrat set to shepherd her party through a new Congress with the slimmest majority in years.
Members cast their votes for speaker ahead of their swearing in Sunday evening, with Pelosi earning support from 216 Democrats and clearing the threshold to secure the House's top position. The proceedings at the Capitol were marked by the coronavirus pandemic, which led to a changing of procedures to ensure the new Congress could gather safely.

(25,816 posts)I can understand, a bit, some Congress critters wanting new, younger leadership. But who?
There really is no one in Nancy's league at this time. She has said that this will be her last
try for Speaker, I believe her, and I believe that she is absolutely needed at this point.
Her shoes will be very hard to fill.

They are on the same side as all of us who love The Constitution. It's not really Rethug vs Dem any more...
It's Authoritarian vs Democracy Lovers. Welcome to the 2020's.

Just not a lot of exceptional superstar genius type talent out there in any field.
But I am grateful TLP is on Our side now and for the long term future. Along with a ton of super hard hitting tweeters and tiktok'ers and youtube streamers and other PAC's like VoteVets and MiedasTouch.
