With Nunes honor, Trump treats Medal of Freedom like a party favor

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: MSNBC

The White House's written statement explaining why Nunes is receiving the nation's highest civilian honor is unintentionally amusing: it argues that the Republican congressman earned the medal because he uncovered evidence of the Obama administration spying on the Trump campaign (that didn't happen in reality), found proof of "illegitimate" unmaskings (that also didn't happen in reality), "thwarted" a plot to take down an American president (this is utterly bananas), proved something nefarious about the "persecution" of disgraced former White House National Security Advisor Michael Flynn (who wasn't persecuted), "pursued" the "Russia Hoax" (which obviously wasn't a hoax), and "uncovered the greatest scandal in American history," which the document didn't actually identify.

Perhaps most importantly, the president's statement added that Nunes deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom because the Republican lawmaker "had the fortitude to take on the media, the FBI, the Intelligence Community, the Democrat Party, foreign spies, and the full power of the Deep State."

Or put another way, Trump is celebrating Nunes for "taking on" his own country's governmental institutions that Trump ostensibly helps lead.

Turns to Shit or bankruptcy . I like the ideals of the Freedom Medal but he has destroyed that, too. All the people before, who have been honored, must have something to say, too. Even an * beside everything just doesn’t rid him from his hateful n vengeful 4 years of d destruction. How can restore the honor of this recognition?

Or maybe the Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum.

With a plaque describing the reason he "earned" it, because never in history has the medal been awarded so flippantly and without merit. It no longer matter who gets the Medal Of Freedom. They just hand them out like Dairy Queen coupons to a losing Little League team.

Trump is doing this to deliberately debase this honor, especially since Obama awarded it to Joe Biden. This is the highest honor America has to give to a civilian and look at the people he has given it to already. Everyone who has already received it from Trump and the ones in the coming weeks, their names will probably be marked by an asterisk in historical records as awarded by a criminal president, but in his mind right now, this is to show Obama, Biden and the rest of the country that it was something he gave to people who not just left him walk all over them, but helped him crap all over the constitution.
