Schumer declares Democratic majority in the Senate

Source: Axios

Oriana Gonzalez

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) declared on Wednesday that Democrats have gained control of the Senate, with Rev. Raphael Warnock having defeated Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) and Jon Ossoff currently leading in the race against former Sen. David Perdue (R).

Why it matters: A 50-50 Senate would give Vice President-elect Kamala Harris the tie-breaking vote after Jan. 20. Democratic control of the Senate will decide the fate of Biden's presidency, from whether he gets his Cabinet nominees to whether progressives get their tax hikes and public spending.

What they're saying: “It feels like a brand new day. For the first time in six years, Democrats will operate a majority in the United States Senate — and that will be very good for the American people," Schumer said in a statement."

"America is experiencing one of the greatest crises we have ever faced, and the Senate Democratic Majority is committed to delivering the bold change and help Americans need and demand. Senate Democrats know America is hurting — help is on the way," he continued.

That’s the same MF media that help elect the orange POS that is now refusing to accept the will of the people. He wants to burn down everything in his sand box. Well fuck him and his deplorable low life’s.

so there shouldn't be any question that the progressive agenda is important. 70 million citizens voted for Trump so any drift toward ignorant fascism has to be stopped and it can't be stopped by passivity or overly 'make nice with the Republicans' delusions.

Sanders caucauses with Dems but has a strong independent streak. They will need votes from him and other progressives with just a one-vote margin, though of course they can't go too far the other way or they will lose blue-dog Dems. But I expect we may see more generous healthcare measures passed than we would get if there were not people like Sanders and Warren in the Senate.

Time for the Dems to “pack the courts” the way the Republicans have done with federal judges who better represent the majority.

The only politician I can think of who is less deserving of his position, with the exception of Trump of course is MoscowMitch, a rotten, corrupted to his core type of person, a truly revolting failure of a person.

Getting him off the majority Leader position, along with kicking Trump out of the WH reminds me of when my dog was a puppy and managed to get to a chocolate ice cream bowl my daughter left on the floor. He had terrible diarrhea that stunk up the entire house, but my wife said that the sooner we clean up the mess, unpleasant and disuniting as it may be, the sooner we get the house back to normal.

It is time to aggressively start undoing the incalculable damage Moscow Mitch has created, because nobody knows what the House and Senate will look like after the midterm elections. Time to be brave and super aggressive, and hopefully the sane portion of the US population will respect it and reaward the Democrats in 2022.

history books, for the AGES.

This is a moment that I'll remember definitely for the rest of my meager life.

This will be a fitting memorial to my friend, my pen pal, and my wonderful great uncle today (online)...whom I'm attending an online tribute today for, since he has gone to the great beyond.

He was 87 years, a wonderful man, educator and principal. I plan on donating to his wonderful scholarship fund. What better tribute can one give to his family and community?

My best to all of us in DU land.

Do it!

You are 78 years old. There are 20 Republican Senate seats up for reelection in 2022.

You may be 82 years old before you get a shot at regaining your position as Majority Leader. Shouldn't you live out your golden years in a rocking chair in a dacha on the Black Sea?
