Delegate Evans announces resignation from House of Delegates

Source: WSAZ News

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Delegate Derrick Evans, who was seen on video with rioters going inside of the Capitol Wednesday, has announced his resignation from the West Virginia House of Delegates according to a spokesperson. The Wayne County Republican’s resignation goes into effect immediately.

In a statement, Evans says “The past few days have certainly been a difficult time for my family, colleagues and myself, so I feel it’s best at this point to resign my seat in the House and focus on my personal situation and those I love.”

Evans goes on to say, “I take full responsibility for my actions, and deeply regret any hurt, pain or embarrassment I may have caused my family, friends, constituents and fellow West Virginians. I hope this action I take today can remove any cloud of distraction from the state Legislature, so my colleagues can get to work in earnest building a brighter future for our state. And more importantly, I hope it helps to begin the healing process, so we can all move forward and come together as ‘One Nation, Under God.”

A bond is surety for failure to appear. It is forfeit if he doesn't appear.

If he spends something now (resigning his office), he doesn't have it to forfeit later.

A judge could, I suppose, under some circumstances use a resignation as a punishment in place of other punishments. But bond agreements, I very much doubt it.

It's been my experience that a lot of such individuals don't know a damned thing about the Bible. Well, I have studied my fucking Bible and I don't mind sharing my wisdom with them when they provoke me. They don't appreciate it though.

And while I'm at it, the least patriotic among us are those who parade around with a boatload of flags while calling themselves patriots.

Apologies are inadequate and what was done must never be minimized or assumed to be made better by mere apologetic words. This is our nation we're talking about. They tried to bring down our government. It was a coup. Every one of them should just be quiet now. They'll have their day in court. Until then, they've said and done too much already.

That said, let me hasten to add that I have no interest in any sort of "healing process" or "building a brighter future" with Evans, Cruz, or any of the other dipshit politicians who have gone over to the Dark Side. Fuck all them, and all the idiots who follow them.

Sometimes I feel like I'm up to my eyeballs here in WV with nothing but the worst MAGAs you could ever imagine. But this pushback is significant, and it's not going to go away.

The dead have not yet even been buried. The capitol is in need of extensive repair. The injured are still hospitalized. Pence, Pelosi, Biden, Harris, and many others are still in grave danger.

I do not feel like healing. I feel like ripping off any scab so that the pain is real and stays real, and I stay motivated, until justice is done to all involved in this traitorous behavior, beginning at the head of this rotten fish.
