House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday told reporters that the House and Senate are "ready" to proceed with former President Trump's second impeachment trial, but she said transmission of the articles is being held up by questions about how the trial would work.
"Im not going to be telling you when it is going
they are now ready to receive, but there are other questions of how a trial to proceed. But we are ready," she said. "It will be soon, as I said you will be the first to know."
Pelosi dismissed Republicans' concerns that impeachment could divide lawmakers so soon after the inauguration.
"It's not really unifying to say, let's just forget it, and move on," Pelosi said.

(4,036 posts)Regardless of what happens with the spineless Republicans in the Senate, this will be the last impeachment for Trump.
From this point forward, all the removing him from office will be done because he has been incarcerated in a state or federal prison. NY and GA have relatively straightforward cases it would seem.
The SDNY "Individual 1" form the Cohen case should be a slam dunk for a federal crime.
The reason the R's might go from impeachment is that it will bar him from running so he would have no legal reason to solicit campaign funds which they fear he will siphon from the rest of the party. A few might realize, hey they might have killed me too and vote their conscious (or stay away from the vote) so that 2/3 is reached by a smaller number. If 20 stay home, only 4 have to vote to convict.

(136 posts)Repubs who oppose Democratic initiatives will never be convinced not to by "Forgetting and moving on". They'll do what they'll do, impeachment or no.
