Trump and Justice Dept. Lawyer Said to Have Plotted to Oust Acting Attorney General

Source: NYT

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department’s top leaders listened in stunned silence this month: One of their peers, they were told, had devised a plan with President Donald J. Trump to oust Jeffrey A. Rosen as acting attorney general and wield the department’s power to force Georgia state lawmakers to overturn its presidential election results.

The unassuming lawyer who worked on the plan, Jeffrey Clark, had been devising ways to cast doubt on the election results and to bolster Mr. Trump’s continuing legal battles and the pressure on Georgia politicians. Because Mr. Rosen had refused the president’s entreaties to carry out those plans, Mr. Trump was about to decide whether to fire Mr. Rosen and replace him with Mr. Clark.

The department officials, convened on a conference call, then asked each other: What will you do if Mr. Rosen is dismissed?

The answer was unanimous. They would resign.

Their informal pact ultimately helped persuade Mr. Trump to keep Mr. Rosen in place, calculating that a furor over mass resignations at the top of the Justice Department would eclipse any attention on his baseless accusations of voter fraud. Mr. Trump’s decision came only after Mr. Rosen and Mr. Clark made their competing cases to him in a bizarre White House meeting that two officials compared with an episode of Mr. Trump’s reality show “The Apprentice,” albeit one that could prompt a constitutional crisis.

This was presented on Chris Hayes 30 minutes ago, and I believe they said it was on the same day that trump called Georgia election officials to overturn the election

A federal conviction on trump should make him persona non grata to Graham, Cruz, etc. A few years in jail would be sweet. Ivanka and Jr begging Biden for a pardon for Daddy would be a moment to cherish.

to enable further what Trump began for them. The people who paid to put him in power haven't been arrested.

While we no longer have Trump inside government scheming his vile conquest of America, Putin's agents and Mercer's shills are not yet exposed nor under indictment.

I do breathe easier now that we have a real President and Vice president, and that the news and internet aren't full of ugly rants and vile fantasy, not to mention immanent threats.

I am concerned that far too many people are yet willing to ignore law and reality in their adulation for all things Trump.

I am worried that as with Cheney and the Neo-Cons it will take far more time to expose the depth of their plots and perfidy, and to halt plans still operating under the radar.

is who introduced Clark to Trump, especially if that person is curren or past state legislator or member of congress. O'Donnell asked that question last night, but the reporter demurred. She said she knows who this person is, but was unable to contact them for comment on her story and therefore didn't want to make the name public.

NYT: Rep. Perry played role in alleged Trump plan to oust acting AG

Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry (R) played a key role in an alleged plan by former President Trump to oust then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen in a bid to overturn the election results in Georgia, according to a Saturday report by The New York Times.

The outlet reported that Perry, who earlier this month voted in favor to object to the election results in Pennsylvania and Arizona in Congress, coordinated the introduction between Trump and Jeffrey Clark, the acting chief of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) civil division.

Jesus H. Christ, we're lucky we still have a democracy. And Jeffrey Clark needs to be deprived of his law license immediately---for starters.
