Coronavirus Model Predicts New Variants Will Increase U.S. Death Toll

Source: U.S. News and World Report

Widespread transmission of new, highly transmissible coronavirus variants could lead some states to see a resurgence of the coronavirus in the spring, according to a widely cited coronavirus model.

The University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation updated its forecast to include the variants first found in the U.K. and South Africa for the first time. Both have been detected in the U.S.

It increased its previous death toll estimate by about 25,000 to more than 594,000 by May 1. If the projection plays out, it would mean over 160,000 more Americans will die from the virus in the next roughly three months.

But if variants rapidly spread across the country, the death toll will climb to 620,000, according to IHME. And a worse-case scenario would mean states like Florida and California see a resurgence of the virus in the spring.

a larger percentage of the population, but if we hit or pass that toll, it will be a psychological blow for a lot of people.

We already lost the whole year last year because of this damn thing, I don't want to lose 2021 as well, but I feel like that's where we are heading.

I live in a gated community. It's one of those communities where everyone knows everyone. And hardly any of them are wearing masks. Or social distancing. Even the Democrats I know.

So I'm just staying indoors, having everything delivered.
The second you go outside, some idiot without a mask comes walking up wanting to have a conversation. So it's either stay indoors or hang out in my backyard.

They pull numbers out of their asses. Truly. Their estimates were the ones used by Donny Bodybags to insist the virus was no worse than the flu because IHME insisted for a long time that the death toll would be 60,000.

and something most T.V doctors do not mention is for us to eat a healthy diet high in micronutrient to build our immune system.
