The task falls on her for an obvious reason. Shes the highest ranking and most visible person of color in the federal government, and the African American community has been among the most skeptical of any about getting the Covid vaccine.
The administration has a plan to deploy Harris to spread awareness and boost confidence among a group of people who are also some of the most at risk of infection. Its a lofty but uncertain goal, complicated by Harris difficulty earning support within the Black community during her primary run.
So far, the campaign has been carefully calculated. Harris has received both rounds of her vaccination publicly: the first in southeast Washington, D.C., historically the poorest and Blackest quadrant of the city. (23,270 posts)Wish they would nationalize the vaccinations because we in FL will never get ours if it's left up to DeathSentence who only wants it for the rich and well connected. Other people are being left out, even those who are elderly and at high risk. It really pisses me off. It also pisses me off that DS gave the contract to Publix who is only doing this in the 20 most wealthy counties and isn't giving it to one of the largest counties for population in FL - Duval because we don't have sufficient wealthy folks here.
