White House reviewing whether Trump should continue receiving intel briefings

The White House is conducting a review to determine whether former President Trump should continue receiving intelligence briefings now that he has left office.

Speaking at the White House press briefing on Monday, spokeswoman Jen Psaki said President Biden’s national security team is looking into the matter.

“It’s something that is under review,” Psaki said.

Former presidents typically have access to intelligence briefings after leaving office.

Sue Gordon, who was principal deputy director of national intelligence during the Trump administration, urged in a recent op-ed that Trump be cut off from intelligence briefings, saying he would be “unusually vulnerable to bad actors with ill intent.”

Trump will complain when he is refused access to ongoing briefings and demand that his sycophants share. Otherwise, he and Jared will have nothing to sell to our enemies.

Or Biden could have the intel community create special briefings just for Trump that have false information and see how long it takes for the information to appear in the hands of people who have no right to it.

That could well be a conflict of interest if they, as a now-private citizen, make business decisions based on intel they get that WE dont get.

The obvious issues with continuing to give Trump intelligence aside, why do *any* former Presidents continue to have access to that info? They're no longer in office and can do nothing with the information that I know of, except the bad sorts of things we imagine Trump might do.

Early in his single term (I love writing that!), Trump stopped his Daily Presidential Brief. He famously said he knows more about everything than anyone so he didn't need briefings.

If you feel you must, they could be bland andor false.

It not that, then make them text-only and so dense that he wouldn't do more than pretend to read them for a few seconds. That reading would have to be done in a secure location, and he retains no copies.
