Rep. Matt Gaetz said during an appearance on Steve Bannon's podcast Wednesday that, if asked, he would step down from Congress to defend former President Donald Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial.

Appearing on "War Room: Pandemic," the Northwest Florida congressman said, "If the [former] president called me and wanted me to go defend him on the floor of the Senate, that would be the top priority in my life."
