Wife of GOP Sen. Hawley files criminal complaint over protest at their home
A magistrate issued a misdemeanor summons for one of the protesters.

The wife of Republican Sen. Josh Hawley has filed a criminal complaint against one of the organizers of a protest last month outside their Virginia home.

The individual has been charged with a misdemeanor count of illegally demonstrating, but not charged with making threats or vandalism, as the Missouri senator initially alleged. A local magistrate found enough "probable cause" to issue a summons in the case, according to a police spokesman.

Hawley's office said the complaint was filed in a court in Fairfax County, Virginia, with the defendant identified as activist Patrick Young of Washington, D.C. But as of Friday morning, Young told ABC News he had heard nothing about a criminal complaint, which wouldn't become public until he receives it.

According to Virginia law, any citizen can file a criminal complaint and seek a summons, though a magistrate must find enough "probable cause" to issue one.

I can stand on the sidewalk in front of his house, unless he lives in a gated community, and protest him all day (and night) long. Nothing anyone can do unless I'm violating a noise ordinance or something like that, and then I can be arrested/cited/moved on, or I can protest quietly.

Not a peep out of Billy when Trump protestors rode a horse to his house sans waste bags. Excuse The Daily Mail link. I wanted to show the horse (hung like a burro) and the surprise pumpkin patch head in the pics.

Police: Protesters Outside Sen. Hawley's Virginia Home Were Peaceful
By Michael Balsamo • Published January 5, 2021 • Updated on January 5, 2021 at 4:48 pm

Protesters who gathered outside the Virginia home of Republican Sen. Josh Hawley Monday evening were peaceful and they left when police explained they were violating local picketing laws, police said Tuesday. The Missouri senator on Twitter accused the protesters of vandalism and threatening his family.

Officers were called to Hawley's home in Vienna, a Washington suburb, around 7:45 p.m. after someone reported that there were “people protesting in front of the house.” Officers who responded to the scene found that the “people were peaceful,” said Master Police Officer Juan Vazquez, a spokesman for the Town of Vienna Police Department.

VA Police: Protesters At Hawley’s Home Were “Peaceful”

January 5, 2021

The Associated Press reports:

Protesters who gathered outside the Virginia home of Republican Sen. Josh Hawley Monday evening were peaceful and they left when police explained they were violating local picketing laws, police said Tuesday. The Missouri senator on Twitter accused the protesters of vandalism and threatening his family.

Officers were called to Hawley’s home in Vienna, a Washington suburb, around 7:45 p.m. after someone reported that there were “people protesting in front of the house.” Officers who responded to the scene found that the “people were peaceful,” said Master Police Officer Juan Vazquez, a spokesman for the Town of Vienna Police Department.

Vazquez said the protesters had been violating several laws, including a Virginia code about picketing in front of a house, a town ordinance about making noise in front of a home and a littering code. But he said the officers explained the violations and “everyone just left.”

A few days ago he complained of protesters outside his house in Virginia. Now protesters of a different ilk are literally taking over the People's House.

On Monday we visited

to tell him we were concerned that he was damaging our democracy. We were right.

You’re right, people should be safe in their own homes #BreonnaTaylor

We stopped by
@HawleyMO
’s house with some friends tonight to encourage him to rethink his attack on democracy. We left him a copy of the Constitution... with Article II bookmarked. #DefendDemocracy

Surprise! We’re at Josh Hawley’s house holding a vigil for democracy #SeditionCaucus #VotersDecided #J6

are increasingly showing up to harass people in their homes. That's a bad trend arising out of these mean, angry times that needs to be stopped. It's very interesting how often it's happening specifically when the political figure isn't there to see but family is to be frightened. And of course the home is doxxed for any other actors who care to show up.

Homes and families used to be off limits for good reasons -- like the Mafia. "You leave my family alone, I don't touch yours." This new pattern shows some are breaking that compact, and there's an obvious element of terrorism in it.

This group could have targeted one of Hawley's offices. They could learned where he was scheduled to show up at events and gone there. They could have demonstrated at the Capitol, the local federal building, any Republican headquarters and/or event, at any other permittable public event or location.

And that's what they should be doing instead of setting out to alarm politicians by frightening their children and babysitters. If it's not okay for RW demonstrators and hooligans, it's NOT okay for ours.

Those inclined to approve should remember that the RW is far more prone to aggressively hostile actions, with far more bad actors, many viciously ruthless and potentially dangerous, than the left has ever been. This trend is not to our benefit.
