David Hicks says he will be taking legal action against the Australian government and demanding a full investigation into his incarceration in Guantanamo Bay.
The charge with which Mr Hicks was convicted in 2007 has been ruled invalid by a US appeals court because it could not be applied retrospectively, meaning Mr Hicks can claim to be an innocent man.

Quite a few heavy lawyers have lined up to represent Hicks after the government dropped charges earlier this year under the 'proceeds of crime' act which prevents convicted people from profiting from their 'crime' such as writing a book as Hicks has done.
That was after the government saw new evidence including from US serviceman who were at Gitmo and confirmed Hicks had been tortured.
