Popluar Reality Show Family Supports Todd Akin

OSAGE BEACH - The Duggar Family from TLC's reality TV show, 19 Kids & Counting, started touring Missouri for Todd Akin Tuesday.

The family started the tour in Springfield early Tuesday and then headed to Osage Beach. They expressed their support for Todd Akin though personal stories. They also had 18 of the 19 children attending to perform a capella and instrumental music.

G. Brett Adams, the Akin Field Director will be traveling with the Duggers throughout the state. "They obviously have a pro-family message, having as many kids as they do. That is going to draw a lot of people out, we believe as well as the pro-life community," said Adams.

Tomorrow the group will head to Farmington and Poplar Bluff. Afterwards Akin will head to St. Louis for the final debate between McCaskill and him.

I am in animal rescue, and a recent episode of "The Duggars" was called to my attention because it contained scenes of their treatment of animals. So I watched the portions of the show that had to do with this issue.

They admitted quite proudly that one cat had already disappeared, and now there's another one to be kicked outside to the same fate, I'm sure. They proudly proclaimed that they "believed" the first cat had found another home. What are the chances of THAT being the actual truth? But I'm sure believing that cleanses their conscience.

They also showed footage of Jim Bob and Michelle taking in some other kittens (in addition to Anna and Josh's kitten, Dominoe). I cringed when I saw all of those very small children chasing the kittens, holding them incorrectly and scaring them half to death - all to the delight of mom and dad. To me, this shows a total lack of compassion and understanding about suffering.

They also admitted that they have dogs that hang around their home, and then eventually disappear.

AND...of course there was no discussion AT ALL of spay/neuter practices for any of these animals, not even when they showcased a visit to a veterinarian's office. I'm sure that spay/neuter is against "God's plan", after all.

I'm sorry, but these people really do simply infuriate me. They are weird and strange and irresponsible (as you indicated above). TLC should be ashamed of itself for continuing to air this kind of crap. I am told that their ratings are in a downward spiral, so hopefully, the show won't be around much longer. I will be happy when they are no longer benefitting financially simply because of mega-breeding.

18. There is a bit of a backlash

against this "Quiverful" movement.

"No Longer Quivering" is a blog started by a woman who was compelled to share her story of the emotional, spiritual abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband. She thankfully got out.

But they all have that brainwashed look in their eyes. They don't kiss their boy/girlfriends until marriage, they believe in having as many children as possible and the idea that the man is the boss is just the way it is. But they do appear to be kind people that live the way they preach, no matter how crazy it is. I can at least respect that aspect of the Duggars, they do live what they preach.
