Three GOP senators meet with Trump's lawyers on eve of impeachment defense presentation

A trio of Republican senators allied with former President Donald Trump met with his defense team Thursday evening, in the middle of an impeachment trial in which they will vote on whether to convict Trump and potentially bar him from holding public office again.

Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah were spotted going into a room in the US Capitol that Trump's lawyers were using to prepare for their arguments.

Trump lawyer David Schoen said that the senators were "very friendly guys" who just wanted to make sure they were "familiar with procedure" on the eve of their rebuttal to the House impeachment managers' presentation.

When asked if it's appropriate to meet with senators during the trial, Schoen said, "Oh yeah, I think that's the practice of impeachment."

legal proceeding??? I don't suppose there is any procedural way to remove these senators from the jury panel? Or call for a mistrial? So much for the oath they swore to proceeding the trial. Geez, take about corruption in plain sight. I mean everyone knows that the game is already rigged, but this kind of behavior is totally egregious. Hopefully CNN and the other MSM orgs will be screaming about this from the rooftops.

that it probably is not illegal.

14. I think you will find in general that certain Republicans have no ethics or respect for due process.

What they have got instead is a bank account and a policy of service to the highest bidder. Time after time they have shown this to be their M.O. They blow whichever way the biggest spender dictates and if that is DJT they blow even harder.

I can't tell if the other GOP members are merely playing along to earn enough points to be allowed to play in the next electoral round or if they truly believe the tripe they spout.
