NRCC will 'absolutely' support Republicans who backed impeachment, finance chair says

Source: Politico

CHICAGO — Rep. Darin LaHood, a vocal ally of Donald Trump, said Thursday that the campaign arm of House Republicans won’t seek to punish members of the conference who supported impeaching the former president.

The Illinois Republican was named finance chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee on Wednesday, just as the organization unveiled its strategy for retaking the House after the party made a surprisingly strong showing in the 2020 election.

Capturing the chamber in 2022, LaHood said in a phone interview, is a prize worth more than threatening to starve fellow Republicans of precious campaign cash.

"If we are going to become the majority party — which I think we will — you’ve got to accept that we’re a big tent," LaHood said, adding that Republicans in Peoria, Ill., are different than those in Florida, New York or California. "I have tried to take that philosophy and that attitude of that’s how we’ll become the majority party."

Maybe that'll give the GOP senators enough courage to convict Trump though frankly I doubt it. The Trumpstink is going to be with you a while either which way.

we can get Dems out in force in 2022 and keep the House.

If the repukes get the House, Biden not getting funding for his programs will be the least of his problems. The GOP will dream up any excuse, no matter how idiotic or implausible, to impeach him.

Actually, acquitting Trump will work in their favor to increase a new version of what they hope will revive as an actual political party.

My theory: It's NRCC's leadership attempt, as a minority faction (what I call the remnant Republicans), to reach out to the cult to join under enough key issues beyond Trump himself, to raise their vote numbers.

Trumpcult lost in 2020 due to inadequate popular vote numbers, not because their platform was a person, and so this new push is for a new platform that trumpcult believes Trump would accept, so that remnants will work with new registrants attracted to a new platform.

Just my theory. For all we know, right now, they could just be offering cover for the cult, as if new registrants, or those who left the party to become 'independents,' will only go for a reformed party

the "big tent" party, just as the wealthy white Christian male Party claimed to be the party of "fiscal responsibility," "law and order" and "family values" in order to fool people into not realizing the Democrats were the real thing. Identity theft and con artistry are nothing new.

Everyone claims to be us.

they speak in absolutes.

They're just schlepping for the money they can raise on this statement. When it comes time to vote they will have a whole new Dogma ready. Same as the old Dogma but dressed up in new slogans and dialectic to appeal to the same ugly element they've been courting all along.
