Trump rips McConnell in lengthy statement after being acquitted in impeachment trial

Source: CNN

Former President Donald Trump went after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday, calling him "a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack" in a broadside attack just days after the Kentucky Republican voted to acquit Trump in his second impeachment trial.

After that vote, McConnell ripped Trump in a speech from the Senate floor, and the two have been estranged in recent months after working closely together during the former President's four years in office.

"Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again," Trump said in the statement. "He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country. Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First. We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership."

Trump asserted that the Kentucky Republican's shortcomings had contributed to the party's loss of the Senate majority, saying that "McConnell's dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse."

Donald Trump urges G.O.P. senators to find new leader in biting attack on Mitch McConnell.

........... While Mr. McConnell has faulted the former president for the party’s losses last month in both U.S. Senate races in Georgia, Mr. Trump maintained that it was because Republican voters were angry that the party’s officials did not do more to address his baseless claims of widespread voter fraud.

Mr. Trump claimed credit for Mr. McConnell’s victory in his own Senate race last year, and took a swipe at Mr. McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, who worked for the Trump administration as the transportation secretary.

“McConnell has no credibility on China because of his family’s substantial Chinese business holdings. He does nothing on this tremendous economic and military threat,” Mr. Trump said.

“He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our country,” Mr. Trump said, adding that “where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”............................

He voted to acquit for the red meat voters of Virginia.
Can he have it both ways?
From now on, Mitch will claim Trump only got off on a constitutional technicality. He wishes he could have voted to impeach.

That McConnell thinks he needs to be on the record as saying Trump is guilty, tells you all you need to know about Donald Trump's future.

That's what I don't understand. Trump was going to ream McConnell anyway after his post-impeachment statement. So, why not vote, and find more Senate GOPers to vote, to politically castrate Trump by convicting him?

Mitch tried to play it both ways and only fucked himself. He forgot that Trump is a mob boss. Any perceived disloyalty, even on the heels of voting to acquit, makes you persona non grata.

Long after trump and he are begin forced to be golf caddies at Satan's golf course, the damage those three Supreme Court picks will keep pouring into the nation's veins, especially as it will give the Magats their hopes of banning Gay Marriage and Abortion rights. Remember that when Mitch does his pity me act, he may very well have cut some fatal wounds into the nation.

That begin said, the fact that Trump never changed, and that once again, his response to his failure is to throw someone under the bus is predictable. Trump will forget that Mitch could have, indeed should have, taken advantage of two impeachment chances to dump him.

Side note: If the Trump presidency was submitted as fiction to any publishing house, it would be rejected. Even in Marvel comics, the villains eventual;ly have to have some moment to question "what have I done?" Bottom line, Trump will dies exactly as he lived, and be none the wiser.
