... and it just makes me even MORE impressed that they were able to land the thing safely with their "sky-crane" technology. That's just amazing!!!

It would have taken such a long time for the AAA to get there and get it running again.

Of course we all know about this achievement: landing a vehicle on the planet Mars.

But think about the other one: 2. We can see the color pictures of that vehicle on the planet Mars.

Just like the landing on the moon. Almost in real time, we could see the men walking on the moon.
(well it was real time)..In the 50s we dreamed of such things. But we are living in a futuristic world,
and I am communicating now on a computer that was only envisioned in the early 60s, when we saw
huge rooms full of equipment that represented ..."computers."....

Of course, if you didn't live then, you wouldn't have those visions, but I do. And some others here
also have those visions...

Way to go NASA!!

15. I'd add a 3rd - that Curiosity is -still- roving about there, too!

My idea of computers would be from the earliest '60's maybe '59 but they were still quite big back then, too.

Saw the Moon Landing in real time. And as you said now there's color Mars photos (after I followed the landing yesterday) on a smart phone that basically is a small computer!
