Cruz blames criticism of Cancun trip on media 'Trump withdrawal'
Source: MSN/The Hill
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is blaming extensive media coverage of his trip to Cancun on a void he says the absence of former President Trump has created in the news cycle.
"I will say, to venture into practicing medicine, that I actually want to diagnose the media. The media is suffering from acute Trump withdrawal, where for four years every day, they could foam at the mouth and be obsessed with Donald Trump, and now that he has receded from their day-to-day storyline, they don't know what to do with themselves," Cruz said during an appearance on conservative radio host Dana Loesch's program Monday afternoon.
"Donald Trump broke the media, and so they don't want to do that," he added. "They just want to engage in political attacks."
...
"I think the media is suffering from Trump withdrawal, where they've attacked Trump every day for four years," Cruz told Hannity. "They don't know what to do, so they obsessed over my taking my girls to the beach."

Oh, and because you are an asshole.

And seriously - just taking his kids to the beach?
Talk about spin.
Like a murderer saying "Hey, you're gonna hang me just because I asked that guy to hold my bullets for me? How is that a crime?"

(3,166 posts)Ugh.
I have actually had conservative acquaintances on Facebook (one of whom lives in Texas) post ridiculous shit like "Ted Cruz goes on vacation - media goes wild." and "What do you expect him to do - prevent cold weather??"
No empathy whatsoever. And when I point out that he could be raising money or otherwise be trying to help people, they ask "How much money have YOU raised??" As if I'm the same as a sitting US Senator.
These people have no bottom. They literally believe that the government should just sit back and do nothing to help ANYONE. Boggles the mind.

I get ill just thinking of him with that kind of power.

(11,559 posts)What a great strategy!!! How have Republicans not caught onto this sooner? It's fool-proof and totally effective!
This fake, microscopic scandal that almost the whole world blew out of proportion is finally over!!! Poor, poor Rafael. Always being falsely accused and blamed for things that are total figments of the liberal media's mind.

(2,787 posts)He got away with loads the last four years, and now he is called out for heinously abandoning his state in the middle of a deadly crisis which reasonably required many extra hands to help. This is also to shift eyes away from his Wife's role as a GoldmanSacks director serving on many Texas Energy producer corporate boards.
What a complete slime ball. I miss when Republicans could be nice occasionally.
