Pence speaks highly of Trump in meeting and plans to launch a political group
Source: CNN
Rep. Jim Banks, an Indiana Republican who chairs the conservative Republican Study Committee, told CNN that a group of members met at Pence's transition office in the Washington area on Tuesday afternoon, talking about the way forward for their party while also touting the accomplishments of the past.
Pence harbored no ill will towards Trump over the January 6 riot, where pro-Trump rioters stormed the US Capitol with many looking for Pence who was presiding over the congressional certification of Joe Biden's victory. In fact, Trump's actions ahead of the riot "never came up," Banks said.
"He spoke very favorably about his relationship with President Trump," Banks told CNN. "I got the sense they speak often and maintain the same personal friendship and relationship now that they have for four years."

(1,676 posts)Well, first off, Trump has no personal friendships or relationships. Everything he does is transactional. Thus Mikey wants to try and maintain any relevance in the GOP which is Trumps party.

He is trying to tell those who want to kill him that he is friends with the buffoon so that he and mother can go out without anyone threatening them. Well...that is not going to happen, they hate you for not turning the election on Jan 6, 2021 to the buffoon, you are a marked man and the one you adore sent them for you.

(1,684 posts)Bullshit. Its foolish to believe anything a member of the Deplorable Party says, whether its spineless kiss ass Pence or this guy Banks or any of the rest of them. The only way to deal with them, is at the ballot box and to use every bit of legal leverage in congress to get good things passed.

Looks like they got over that feeling.

(12,564 posts)His sycophants keep touting "the president's accomplishments," but I can't think of a single thing he did to better the lives of the common citizens -- even his followers -- or the position of the United States as the leader on the world stage.
The only "accomplishment" I can think of is transferring millions of taxpayer and MAGAt dollars into his pockets, as well as those of his children and major donors.
Oh, there is the fact he fulfilled every item on Putin's "destroy democracy" wish list. Had T***** been installed for a second term, I imagine one of his first acts would be to pull us out of NATO.

(9,958 posts)I think these are the accomplishments his supporters like.
1. He elevated right-wing religious goals by giving them prominence and publicity throughout his four years in office.
2. He pushed immigrants out of the country by any means necessary, including violence, and his supporters were fine seeing babies and toddlers screaming for their parents because they were brown babies.
3. He promoted white supremacy from the bully pulpit of the presidency. He undermined the right to peaceful protest by black and brown people by making them enemies of the (white) people and their causes seem like enemies of white freedom.
4. He reveled in violence and gave his supporters encouragement and the right to use violence to change things they didnt like, essentially giving them permission to violate state and federal laws.
5. He appointed extremist and young, inexperienced judges to the federal courts, and we are already seeing them thwart Bidens agenda (for example, the Texas judge who has allowed deportations to continue).
6. He appointed three right-wing Supreme Court justices who will control public policy for decades.
7. And finally he did everything possible every day to say and do things to irritate the media and liberals. That allowed his supporters to feel that through him, they were getting the best of us.
The Republican Party has cultivated hatred of all things non-white and liberal for decades. Trump was simply the messiah who brought it all out into the open so they could be the public racists and haters theyre always been. There are many millions of them, and they still have the capability of destroying our democracy with the support of Trump and billionaires like the Mercers who support them.

Oh, and Pence is pathetic. I hope his attempts to become president in order to establish a white "christian" oligarchic theocracy fail as miserably as possible.

(12,564 posts)I mean, look at all of Hitler's accomplishments:
He made the trains run on time.
He rebuilt the Luftwaffe, even though he wasn't permitted to do so after WW I.
He created the V-2 rocket and a post-war job for Werner Von Braun.
He enabled cities in Europe and England to begin major renovations to their architecture and infrastructure, creating thousands of jobs.
He supported a winning Olympic team -- except for that American black guy who out ran all his German Aryan competitors.
He taught thousands of adults and children to dress alike, think alike, and gather in huge formations to listen to his long, long speeches.
His submarines sank hundreds of Allied ships, providing American jobs in the ship-building industry.
He expanded the geographical area of Germany to provide more room for recreation like war games.
He inspired the Von Trapp family to relocate to America so their talents could be seen by millions of people watching "The Ed Sullivan Show."
He was responsible for huge advancements in all areas of U.S. manufacturing and science, as well as creating a national identity of Americans as "The Greatest Generation."
Of course, there's that little matter of the Jews, but that's something put forward by Hitler-haters to detract from his accomplishments. Besides, they got their own country as a result, so it wasn't a total loss.
