Girl, 11, finds parents dead in Missouri home. Both had Covid-19.

The 11-year-old daughter of a Missouri couple with coronavirus found her parents dead in their home, according to NBC affiliate KSDK.
St. Louis County police responded to the residence in the 3500 block of Glen Bay Drive in Mehlville about 10:30 a.m. local time Feb. 18, the news station reported.
Family members told officers the man and woman were quarantining in their home after testing positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus. Their names have not been released, but both were in their 40s, according to authorities.
We have no reason to believe their deaths were caused by anything other than Covid-19 at this time, police said in a statement.

(25,853 posts)I cannot begin to imagine how awful that must have been for her.
Please let there be other family who can take her in, cherish her, and help her heal.

(26,044 posts)...was she living in the house with them, or did she stay elsewhere while they quarantined? Did they both simultaneously pass so quickly there wasnt time to get them to a hospital? It seems odd, whether she was there or even staying with another family, that no one checked on the parents until they had both died.

(2,738 posts)They're used to the adults being the caregivers and deciders.
An acquaintance of mine got COVID. His mom wouldn't let his kids come to her house lest they bring the disease.
The kids didn't know just how sick he was and were quarantining in the house. The schools wouldn't let them attend in person. They avoided him so they wouldn't get sick too.
When he recovered, he said he thought quite possibly he could have died.
I think his mom called and checked on him through the kids but the kids didn't have the prerequisite knowledge to properly assess or decide.

(55 posts)Many people infected with covid-19 virus tends to be in a state of high anxiety not to mention any preexisting condition could have amplify their condition. So it is indeed strange they both passed away at the same time before one of them had the opportunity to contact friends or authority to informed them about their young daughter.

Let's hope there's loving, responsible family members there to care for her.

"Supposedly she had gone to the hospital. They thought she had a stroke, but I guess it was due to COVID," Duy said.
Duy said he spoke with a family member of the south St. Louis County couple.
"She tested positive, but they sent her home and then her husband meanwhile was home with a positive test for COVID, so they both were quarantined downstairs in their bedroom in their basement," added Duy.

"To lose both parents at one time you know for an 11-year-old, it's really tragic. Last year at Christmas time they came down to our door and gave us cookies. They were just the nicest people. We are praying for the girl and their family," said Duy.
Neighbors say the family moved into the neighborhood last August.
