Mr. Cuomo said that he would ask Letitia James, New Yorks attorney general, and Janet DiFiore, the chief judge on New York States highest court, to jointly pick someone to investigate sexual harassment accusations lodged by two women who worked in the Cuomo administration.
The move came amid mounting criticism over Mr. Cuomos initial choice of Barbara S. Jones, a former federal judge who worked with Mr. Cuomos longtime adviser, Steven M. Cohen, after leaving the bench.
In an effort to avoid even the perception of a lack of independence or inference of politics, the Cuomo administration has asked Ms. James and Judge DiFiore to jointly select an independent and qualified lawyer in private practice without political affiliation to conduct a thorough review of the matter and issue a public report, Beth Garvey, a special counsel to the governor, said in a statement.

(94,490 posts)The remarks from the presidents top spokesperson came after Lindsey Boylan, a candidate for Manhattan borough president who formerly worked for Cuomo and the states economic development agency, revealed in a blog post Wednesday that the governor had kissed her without her consent and asked her to play strip poker.
Then, on Saturday, The New York Times reported that Charlotte Bennett, a former executive assistant and health policy adviser to Cuomo, was also sexually harassed by the governor, including inappropriate questions about her sex life.
Speaking on CNN's "State of the Union," Psaki did not answer directly Sunday when asked whether Biden believes either Bennetts or Cuomos account, but said the president has been consistent that he believes that every woman should be heard, should be treated with respect and with dignity.

(7,596 posts)Trump has nearly 30 allegations against him and Ive never heard a peep out of her about it. He has about 13 times as many accusers as Cuomo and shes absolutely fine with him still being the face of her party.
Needless to say, Ive been laying into her on Twitter whenever I get the chance.

And given social media, an onslaught takes place not only on the Sunday talk shows and at press availabilities but on Facebook, Twitter, and elsewhere, and the outrage and demands are deployed selectively and strategically.

CNN anchor Dana Bash confused her colleague Chris Cuomo with his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on-air Sunday while discussing the latest sexual harassment allegations against the politician.
The chief political correspondent made the gaffe in reporting that the governor allegedly asked his former aide, Charlotte Bennett, 25, inappropriate questions and made comments that she said left her feeling like he wanted to sleep with me.
The New York Times is reporting last night a second allegation of sexual harassment against New York Governor Chris Cuomo, Bash said on State of the Union.
This is a report from a former aide Charlotte Bennett saying that Cuomo asked her alone in his office last spring about her sex life, including whether she ever had sex with older men she has other allegations as well, she continued.
Bash then launched into an interview with White House press secretary Jen Psaki before correcting herself for accidentally naming the Cuomo Prime Time host.
Governor Andrew Cuomo I should say, obviously, she said.
