A man who appeared to have "fallen or jumped" was pronounced dead inside an Amazon facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada, early Monday, police said.
Officers arrived just before 7 a.m. and found the man inside the building on East Tropical Parkway, in the northeast corner of metropolitan Las Vegas, said Alexander Cuevas, a spokesperson for the North Las Vegas Police Department.
"Detectives were called out, and cause and manner of death will be revealed by the coroner," he said, adding that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration had been notified.
Amazon spokesperson Lisa Levandowski said: "We're deeply saddened by this tragic incident. Their family and loved ones are in our thoughts, and we're supporting our employees during this difficult time."

(17,387 posts)If we are going to talk about work place deaths and injuries, we should not ignore the folks who routinely die, get injured or sick for Americans to put meat on the table.

A slaughterhouse is a safer place to work than it used to be, according to a new government report. But data gathered by federal regulators doesn't likely capture all the risks faced by meat and poultry workers.
In an update to a 2005 report criticizing safety conditions for workers in the meat industry, the Government Accountability Office says injuries and illnesses are still common. From 2004 to 2013, 151 meat and poultry workers died from injuries sustained at work. The injury rate for meat workers is higher than the rest of the manufacturing industry.
But injuries in the meat industry are also likely to be underreported.

Does it rule out 'dove' and 'backflipped' and similar possibilities?
Inquiring minds want to know.

(5,112 posts)How much stock NBC has in Amazon that they felt they had to include the word 'jumped' despite there being no offering as to cause and manner of death. I also wonder what Amazon will do if it does come out that he jumped. Because I am not really sure there would be a reason to jump inside that particular building that doesn't include the word 'exploitation'...
