Busted: Trump official arrested in connection to Capital riot
Source: Raw Story
On Thursday, POLITICO reported that a former staffer in the Trump administration has been arrested in connection with the invasion of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.
"The FBI on Thursday arrested Federico Klein, a former State Department aide, on charges related to the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, marking the first known instance of an appointee of President Donald Trump facing criminal prosecution in connection with the attempt to block Congress from certifying President Joe Biden's victory," reported Josh Gerstein. "Klein, 42, was taken into custody in Virginia, said Samantha Shero, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Washington Field Office. Details on the charges against him were not immediately available."
"Klein worked on Trump's 2016 campaign and was then hired at the State Department," said the report. "As of last summer, he was listed in a federal directory as serving as a special assistant in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and was designated as a 'Schedule C' political appointee."
Trump himself was impeached for incitement to insurrection in connection with the riot, and escaped conviction even as seven Republican senators voted to hold him guilty.

(5,112 posts)I am not sure how this thing works but we need to figure out how to get some real progressive types at the bar who handle cases of judge and lawyer malfeasance. That way when they make weird or questionable decisions, they will be hauled up for competency. This needs to happen way more than it does. Then these rethug judges won't just offer up decisions along party lines without drawing attention and inquiry.

Insurrection is not a protest, killing police defending our Government, with American flags, is disgustingly traitorous.
Rump lost because more than 7 million citizens did NOT want him as pResident anymore. If you don't like and respect democracy then you are living in the wrong country.

(21,620 posts)His father, economist Federico Klein (1939-2018), was the brother of Guillermo Walter Klein (b. 1936) - best known in Argentina as the Deputy Economy Minister during the fascist Jorge Videla dictatorship (1976-81).
So it figures Cheetolini would name young 'Freddie' adviser to the State Department's (right-wing Cuban exile-dominated) Western Hemisphere Department - essentially, the 'Latin America bureau'.
Known for his brazenness, Uncle Guillermo has charges pending in Argentina over the 1977 murder of one his own top advisors, Juan Carlos Casariego de Bel, after Casariego objected to a compensation of $400 million for the nationalization of the bankrupt CIADE electric company - whose estimated book value was but $8 million.
One the chief shareholders in CIADE was none other than the Economy Minister, José Alfredo Martínez de Hoz (1925-2013).
A kind of Argentine Nosferatu - as well as precursor of Bushonomics - Martínez de Hoz (and Klein, his right-hand man) borrowed over $30 billion in foreign debt by 1981 - and used it to finance $20-30 billion in capital flight (mainly by their friends and others in Argentina's elite).
The country has never fully recovered from that crisis, which essentially derailed the economy.
So naturally, his exile nephew would be a Trumplican (and a rabid one at that, according to his own mother).

Go get 'em.

(1,812 posts)trumpy puts Mark Esper in as Sec. of Defense Nov. 20, followed by the yahoos getting riled up and then trump gives them a date of action; January 6. Esper delays the National Guard's arrival at the Capitol by 3 hours.
Of course it was planned! May the architects of this all go to jail.
I heard that the FBI is working on phone records to show GOP Senators were in communication with the domestic terrorists on 1/6. I wonder why the NSA just doesn't turn over the actual calls, I'm sure they have them in their files.
