The White House warned states that are considering anti-transgender bills this year that those bills are illegal under federal law.
The president believes that trans rights are human rights and that no one should be discriminated on the basis of sex. Not only is this the law of the land, its his own deeply held view, said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during a press briefing.
Psaki was asked about President Joe Bidens views on the dozens of states that are considering anti-transgender laws. According to HRCs latest count, 37 bills have been proposed in state legislatures that would ban transgender girls and women from playing school sports.
Mississippis anti-trans sports bill has already passed the states house and senate and is expected to be signed by the Republican governor soon.

(295 posts)...geezlouise people. This is HUGE for the Trans community at large. Besides bathroom bills, shall we talk about the violence, the verbal, physical and sexual assaults - and right now America is engaged in war against black trans women in particular. Do I need to educate this list on the impact this all has on mental health and suicide rates among trans youth?

We need all the support we can get, and if the fucking president of the United States (LOVE ME SOME JOE!) says WE EXIST and are entitled to equality, then the Rs who write and pass these inhumane bills just 'cause they want to own the libs (not to mention those that vote for them) have earned their own place on Dante's Wheel, and I will personally enjoy watching the flames of burning ill-legislation.
