Former President Trump is urging Republicans to donate directly to him instead of the GOP

Source: Business Insider

jgerstein@businessinsider.com (Julie Gerstein) 1 hr ago

Former President Donald Trump is trying to siphon donations away from the Republican National Committee and into his political action committee fund.

Trump, who recently flirted with starting his own political party, dubbed The Patriot Party, sent a letter warning donors to avoid supporting RINOs, or Republicans In Name Only.

. . .

"No more money for RINOS. They do nothing but hurt the Republican Party and our great voting base - they will never lead us to Greatness," his tweet-length statement said. "Send your donation to Save America PAC at DonaldJTrump.com. We will bring it all back stronger than ever before!"

Fine print on the site clarifies that the Save America joint fundraising committee donates 90% of its funds to Save America PAC, with 10% going to MAGA PAC. Neither PAC is directly affiliated with the Republican party.

Trump's Save America PAC has raised more than $31 million, according to OpenSecrets.com.

The more chaos the powerless buffoon sows among the GQP the better for us. Besides, they explicitly wanted this, they've have numerous chances to be rid of the lodestone yet they cling to it like manna from Heaven. This is a good thing. The more insane they are the more the majority who are reasonable want nothing to do with them.

...the 401K's, bank accounts, sock drawers of those deplorable snowflakes, giving to him reduces, dollar for dollar, monies the GOP could use to support candidates and incumbents for the next election cycle. Since we already know none of that money would be used prior to the mid-terms to reelect or support the GOP's preferred candidates, we win!

I do hope though that somehow those ill-received gains get forfeited by a ruling in a court of law as Trumpy is sentenced to prison. The schadenfreude will hang heavy over the good old USA as we cheer mightily at his incarceration day! So much winning!

You have to be some kind of stupid to give money to this clown!!!

"Dear Rubes, The money you donate to my Super PAC will end up DIRECTLY in my personal bank account. It will be used, among other things, to pay lawyers to keep me out of prison for the numerous crimes I've committed over the course of my life. It will also be used to pay off the Russian oligarch criminals to whom I owe lotsa money to. Since each and every one of you, along with many, many others know that I am the greatest business man in history, the greatest deal maker, the money will be put to good use making ME GREAT AGAIN!!!"

All they had to do was convict him after the January 6 insurrection, and he would not have been able to con people into giving money for his next presidential race. He could still have set up a PAC, but only to support other candidates, and I doubt many of them would have seen much money. But now he can raise all kinds of money for his 2024 presidential run. And whatever he siphons away from the RNC means less money for the very incumbents who allowed him to operate as president, and now as the real head of the Republican Party, with no controls whatsoever on anything he wanted to do. I never thought Republicans in Congress, especially in the Senate, were quite that stupid.

I hope that his legal cases will be enough to convince him not to run again, but I’m not sure they will. I do not see him going to jail (though that’s what I would like) simply because he is a former president. Although, perhaps the former president of France being sentenced to jail might inspire juries here. That needs to be publicized more.

Once his investigations and trials are out of the way, there’s really nothing to stop him from running in 2024. Republican voters obviously do not care that he’s a crook, and they would just claim that the legal system was against him and it was all made up evidence. I’m not sure that anything short of total dementia or death can stop him. Remember when Reagan was called the Teflon President? Trump has gotten away with even more. The press certainly let him slide a lot, but the difference now is that Trump has convinced millions of people that only he tells the truth and “tells it like it is.” That is even harder to overcome because his followers do not believe in facts or reality. These people may not be a majority, but their numbers are enough to make elections a nightmare, especially with the extreme voter suppression Republicans are putting in place.
