House Democrats end controversial consultant ban

Source: Politico

In a nod to liberals, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will no longer banish consultants who work for primary challengers.

House Democrats’ campaign arm is officially ending its controversial ban on political consultants who work with candidates challenging sitting Democratic incumbents in primaries, clinching a major victory for progressives.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), the newly installed chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, officially reversed the policy on Tuesday morning. He initially pledged to nix it during his campaign for the chair role and finalized it this week.

Though it was in place for fewer than two years, it still stymied some liberal primary challengers and incensed the left, which celebrated its end.

“It's an enormous win," Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said in a recent interview, before Maloney's decision was formally announced, noting the move would open "a door for our party to leverage strength from all parts of it.”

From what I have seen, the media and advertising consultants tied to the establishment don't seem very competent, especially when it comes to social media.

I swear, I have seen YouTube broadcasts from relatively minor content providers that were superior to some of the ads put out by Democrats on YouTube last cycle.

It’s purpose was to protect any and all incumbents because AOC had beaten an incumbent who didn’t bother campaigning or showing up for debates. Not all incumbents deserve to be unchallenged; for example, Dan Lipinski of Illinois who voted with Republicans most of the time being anti-abortion, anti-Obamacare, and anti-LGBTQ rights.

Protecting incumbents (by both parties) is one of the reasons we have an aging Senate and aging House leaders.

long as they remain true to the main party platform of working for the American people rather than against the American people which is the Republican party platform.
