Cuomo faces new sexual harassment allegation, this time at Executive Mansion
Source: Albany Times-Union
ALBANY A sixth woman has come forward and leveled allegations of sexual harassment or inappropriate conduct against Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, and over the weekend a supervisor in the Executive Chamber became aware the woman had alleged that the governor inappropriately touched her late last year during an encounter at the governor's mansion, where she had been summoned to do work.
An official close to the matter on Tuesday confirmed to the Times Union that the new allegation had been made. The governor's office learned of the matter over the weekend.
In response to questions about the handling of the revelation of the woman's allegations, Beth Garvey, acting counsel to the governor, said: "All allegations that we learn of directly or indirectly are going promptly to the investigators appointed by the attorney general."
The complaint was reported to the governor's counsel by other employees in the Executive Chamber. The information also was relayed by the governor's office to the attorney general's office, which is coordinating an investigation into multiple allegations of sexual harassment that have been made against the governor.

(31,245 posts)snowball seems to be the precursor to an avalanche. I say, for the good of the Democratic party of NY, and for his own family, he needs to strongly consider stepping down immediately, especially since his Lt. Governor is a democrat and female. This will give her running room to mount her own campaign for governor.
Danmel
(4,932 posts)But that is beside the point.
Our very capable AG, Tish James is charged with this investigation. Democrats need to be careful about undermining her credibility, since she is also investigating the "former guy."
And it is a critically important redistricting year when NY is likely to lose at least one congressional seat. We finally have Democratic control of the Assembly, Senate and Governor in a redistricting year.
I.am disappointed in Cuomo too. But we need to look at the long game.

I also want to know what he would think if men treated his daughters that way. Just wondering.

(2,337 posts)in NY State. Keep that in mind -- the pattern of suddenly have people come out of the woodwork has been used before. And, if I may, kissing a woman's hand used to be considered very polite, so how it's suddenly now a serious enough affront to lose your job is just beyond me.

(666 posts)And there is an election coming up in 2022..this not about her pardoning trump it's about the gop governor that could win in 2022 that would..based on what we have heard so far...condemning cuomo before the investigation plays out is pure absurdity

(36,371 posts)The candidates for lt. Governor in New York runs on a separate ticket then the candidates for governor in the primary. The winners then are on the same ticket in the general election.
caber09
(666 posts)By Cuomo to run as his running mate...she is not well known enough to not worry about losing to a well funded GOP candidate but people want to franken cuomo so that trump has a much better chance of being pardoned that's their prerogative, I'd rather let the investigation play out and get actual findings..you over estimate her name recognition. This is clearly an attempt to clear the deck for eventual trump nys pardon, it's pretty obvious without anything more damaging coming out

(10,117 posts)We need to wait for the investigation. IF this is a Roger Stone effort, it is definitely aimed at damaging Cuomo enough for a Republican to win in 2022. Then all Trumps legal troubles go away.
Roger Stone was one of the insurrection plotters willing to overturn the US government. Trying to destroy Cuomos reputation is not beyond his efforts.

(36,371 posts)Note that after the election, R governor's, state legislatures controlled by Rs and judges appointed by Trump turned against him.
And Trump lost NY badly in 2020, getting under 38% of the vote, which suggests any R candidate running for governor and who is seen as pro Trump will likely get his or her ass kicked.
caber09
(666 posts)They will smell blood against a lesser known commodity especially someone from upstate like Hochul. Trump is being investigated by nys, he will bankroll this candidate, this is not just another R gov or legislatures like the ones you are mentioning...this is the difference between possible jail and a nice cozy life for trunp

I voted for cuomo 3x, very happy with him a governor not willing to throw him under the bus before an investigation plays out..I also know that the GOP are gunning for this governorship which would allow for a pardon..no thanks

(666 posts)Against an unknown upstate candidate very popular rob astorino could win (he lost to cuomo) and trump is angling for lee zeldin to run, that POS would be popular upstate and since he is on Long Island he'd run extemely strong on Long Island..he will run tying dems to defund the police which is what he did for his house race successfully. He will have the full fledged support of trump, he's the guy trump wants to win. Those are two right off the bat that could defeat hochul...Molinaro from dutchess county also lost to cuomo but could beat hochul too...I don't think stefanik or Tom reed would win a general election.

(2,022 posts)or that there is a pattern.
I think the defense is mainly a tribal "defend your own" mentality. There is also some suggestion that the women should have shut him down privately at the time it happened, rather than the alternative, that Cuomo should not have been propositioning these people who worked for him.
