Alaska 1st state to make COVID vaccine available to everyone over 16

Source: Axios

Alaska will allow anyone over the age of 16 to get the COVID-19 vaccine, Gov. Michael Dunleavy (R) announced Tuesday night, adding the measure is "effective immediately."

Why it matters: Alaska is the first state to allow people under 18 to get vaccinated and to remove eligibility requirements.

everyone in Alaska over the age of 16? I don't understand why one state would be getting that many vaccines in proportion to their population. Hardly seems fair.

Maybe half a million people total in the really urbanized/accessible areas, half that number living more off the grid so they have a bit mor difficulty getting to a vaccine site.

How difficult should it be to get 500,000 doses?

If so, it will take the most populous states years to get enough doses.

I know, we've been assured enough by the end of April for everyone, but this is ridiculous.

While I'm well aware that many people have declared they won't get the vaccine, there are still many millions, of which I'm one, who absolutely want it. My state, New Mexico, is supposedly doing a great job of rolling it out. But I keep on knowing far too many people younger than my 72 who are getting it, and I can't figure out why.

If many are opting out, then the doses you have go further. I can see where Alaska might have an artificially low rate of vaccination. Whiter, more male, more rural population.

Stop this political state by state stuff.. each state has their own requirements. Get it available to anyone n everyone who wants it. My governor is having us jump thru hoops n causing distress.. sign a consent form n get a shot. Should be that easy.
