Conservative Republican calls for motion to adjourn in order to push back timing of Covid-19 bill vo
Source: CNN
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, has called for a motion to adjourn already, a move she has repeatedly used to mess with the floor schedule.
This means that the expected noon ET vote on the Covid-19 relief bill will be pushed back by at least 45 minutes.
We expect voting to begin on the $1.9 trillion dollar package around 12:30 p.m. ET to 1 p.m. ET.
Greene's decision to again slow down the floor schedule comes as House Republicans remain engaged in an internal struggle over how to assert their power with their robust minority, with a small contingent of conservative hardliners like Greene taking extreme measures to disrupt routine business of the chamber, irritating many of their GOP colleagues who are eager to wage a more focused battle over President Biden's agenda.

Be nice if the FBI would move a little faster on her involvement in the insurrection before she can do more damage.

(133,945 posts)Forty House Republicans on Wednesday voted against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's latest motion to adjourn, yet another sign her party is growing increasingly frustrated with the Georgia Republican's procedural delay tactics.
That figure was more than double the 18 Republicans who voted against her motion last week to end House business for the day.
Some of those Republicans who have bucked Greene and GOP leaders have correctly predicted that the number of "no" votes will only grow as Greene continues to force more of these votes.
They've complained that these unexpected votes, which do not appear on the House schedule, have disrupted constituent meetings and congressional hearings, and have no purpose other than gumming up the floor.
