Merrick Garland confirmed as attorney general

Source: Washington Post

Merrick Garland, a longtime federal appeals court judge whose nomination to the Supreme Court Republicans famously refused to consider, was confirmed as President Biden's attorney general Wednesday.Senators voted 70-30 to approve Garland's nomination. He will take over a Justice Department which saw its reputation battered as President Donald Trump sought to use its power to benefit his friends and hurt his enemies, and which is overseeing several high-profile cases that could be politically perilous.

As a judge, Garland earned a reputation as a moderate consensus builder, and Biden selected him because he was viewed as someone who could restore the Justice Department's credibility and independence from the White House on criminal matters. He enjoyed bi-partisan support. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said before the vote that Garland had a "long reputation as a straight-shooter and legal expert" and that his left-leaning views were "within the legal mainstream."

Garland has vowed to make decisions on criminal matters without regard to politics, and that the agency on his watch will be dedicated to fighting discrimination and domestic terrorism. He has said his first briefing will focus on the investigation into Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol -- a sprawling, nationwide case that already has produced charges against roughly 300 people.

Garland will be taking office later than his recent predecessors. Trump's first attorney general, Jeff Sessions, was confirmed on Feb. 8, 2017, and President Barack Obama's first attorney general, Eric Holder, was confirmed on Feb. 2, 2009. But their nominations were announced earlier during the presidential transition than Garland's was.

TRUMP LOVING COP SICKS POLICE DOG ON PERSON

This should be showing non stop across the nation on every media. It is horrific to watch.............

https://kdvr.com/news/problem-solvers/police-k-9-attack-costs-aurora-80000/

The suspect, is not resisting, just lying on the ground. The canine cop orders the dog to bite the person, the dog doesn't want to bite the person because the person is doing nothing and the dog is trained not to bite because of that.
The cop is screaming orders for the dog to bite the person, and forces the dogs face into the person, the dog finally bites and holds on to the person's thigh and the cop shakes the dog's head from side to side. And he keeps ordering the dog to keep biting, while the suspect is lying face down and not moving............

Check out this video, it will make you angry and nauseated at the same time.
Aurora PD is a large city, bordering Denver on the East, and has been subject to numerous complaints and payouts because of their PD's actions..........

The worst part is the cop did not even get reprimanded, AND the Chief said that the officer was following APD Policy......WOW

If Garland doesn't pursue certain avenues I would think he has a very good reason not to. I don't know if we will hear the reasons why.

If he is able to pursue some of the injustices then I will hope for the best.

AG Garland is going after the 1/6 insurrectionists...and in that case, the linchpin of the whole scheme is Donald Trump.

I suspect by this time next year, the Republicans will lump all Trump's atrocities together - trying to end democracy, the bump stock grab, the reality that while Trump might have cut taxes he didn't cut yours - and decide he was a Democrat all along.

DOJ with no Barr or Sessions has actually discovered "domestic terrorists" without doing pretzel twists about the definition of "terrorist" (essentially being anyone non-white because they obviously have a "political agenda" whereas white supremacists and QAnon kooks don't), then we might just be on step closer to that. You never know...
