Cuomo boasted about 'the large size of his hands,' accuser tells investigators
Source: Politico
Debra Katz, who represents Charlotte Bennett, said in a statement that Bennett detailed her allegations and gave investigators from state Attorney General Tish James office more than 120 pages of records and other documentation to back up her claims.
Katz said Bennett, who has accused the governor of asking her intimate questions, provided new information about the sexually hostile work environment in the governors New York City and Albany offices and his deliberate effort to create rivalries and tension among female staffers on whom he bestowed attention.
One piece of new information that came to light today was the Governors preoccupation with his hand size and what the large size of his hands indicated to Charlotte and other members of his staff, Katz said.

(10,016 posts)Look. I get Cuomo enjoyed being seen as an alpha male. Sounds like he has been cocky for a long time and crossed the line long ago. Thing is, did anyone tell him to cut the sexual crap. Often banter sneaks into conversations and gets progressively worse and more suggestive over time (with men and with women). He was in power and evidently had been getting away with it for some time. Did he realize it was becoming a hostile working environment? That is where I am a bit torn.
As far as I have heard, he did not assault or outright proposition or threaten anyone. No payoffs, no NDAs. Did he EVER realize the attention and banter were unwanted and not harmless? Are many men just clueless or do they know they are crossing the line and just don't care?

(53,998 posts)But the impeachment movement is largely catching momentum because of how he's handled this. The public responds to contrition, not stonewalling
He needed to come straight out at the start of it and expose all his wrongdoing and take a censure of some kind. I just don't see how he comes back from where he's gotten himself.

(16,949 posts)I had to say in plain words to co-workers to stop talking to me a certain way, or I'd report them for sexual harassment. They shut up and none of us ever went there again.
To be fair, I was in my 40s and just starting to work outside the home. I'd grown up around men who had no boundaries, and then had been the only woman in a group of men, including my husband, who socialized often at our house. I went to work thinking that what I was used to in my private life among friends, was okay and other people would recognize and understand that I was just joking. But it didn't work out that way, and humorous banter turned really graphic. I learned from that workplace that I needed to behave appropriately, no suggestive comments from me, no jokes, to avoid tacit permission to people around me that it was okay to have frankly sexual conversations. I still regret that I was partly to blame and I am glad that a concise threat stopped the banter, without ruining the bonds we had as co-workers.

(34 posts)It would be about time, considering the Haudenosaunee had the most civilized society IMO in the world. Women were mostly in charge for hundreds of years right here in New York. The United States government was based on the Iroquois Confederacy except the matrilineal, matriarchal women's role was left out, and obviously we're still *way* behind. I voted for Zephyr Teachout last primary but Kathy Hochul will do if Cuomo gets impeached or resigns. I do believe he should get due process though. If either impeachment or resignation do not happen, I sure hope he doesn't run again.

But seriously, this is the right way to approach the matter. Report it to the AG and let her determine if this, along with other accusations, is legitimate and adds up to a pattern of harassment, and to what degree. Very different from assuming a pattern of harassment without an investigation.

A governor should not be forced to resign because he's talking about the size of his hands. This is almost as silly as him asking aides to help solve a problem with his iPhone.

I am not sure, but I would sure like to find out if she did.

(9,952 posts)There was a calendar on the wall with women legs spread, naked. No one grabbed me. That was a hostile work environment and I should never had to participate in males denigration of women on a daily basis. Once I brought it to the VPs attention how it made me uncomfortable, daily, it disappeared.
So no, it is not only about touching someone. But then we all know that.
