Hate group Family Research Council reminds followers that Bible says to kill the "immoral" gays

Source: LGBTQ Nation

They're not happy with "secularists, humanists, hedonists, and the political Left" support for LGBTQ civil rights.

By Bil Browning Friday, March 19, 2021

The Family Research Council, an anti-LGBTQ hate group that serves as the lobbying arm of the religious right, describes LGBTQ people as “unnatural” and “immoral” in a message to supporters. They also remind recipients at the beginning of the missive of a Bible verse that commands followers to kill gay people.

“The apostle Paul explains that humanity has rejected God, exchanging the truth about Him and the things He created for a lie. While describing the sinful ‘exchanges’ men and women have made, Paul uses the term para physin, which means ‘unnatural’ or ‘against nature,”” he writes. “Homosexuality is unnatural because it is a departure from God’s design for sexuality. According to the passage, homosexuality is also a consequence of humanity suppressing God’s truth and refusing to honor Him. Another departure from God’s design for sexuality is transgenderism,” he continues before condoning dangerous “conversion therapy” meant to turn LGBTQ people straight or cisgender.

-snip-

“It is well known that the ‘Equality Act,’ if passed, will be used by activists in and out of government to harass and punish Christians who preach, teach, practice, or openly defend their faith pertaining to human sexuality.”

Tony Perkins, the group’s leader, got his start in politics as a Louisiana state representative. He bought his mailing list for supporters from David Duke, the former head of the Ku Klux Klan and made speeches in front of white supremacist groups. He was a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and his white nationalist supporters.

What that really means is that Eve was a transexual clone. Cloned from Adams rib and then transgendered.
It's not like LGBTQs are least among us, at least they are treated as such by those that claim to be Christians.
I also wonder about the Trinity. If all three are the same God, there is no gender given to the Holy Spirit, so I think its pronouns are He and She.

Mar 2021

He said in 1 Corinthians 13 that now we see "through a glass darkly" and should depend on our charity (agape) to be the guiding influence, not our faith. It is my favorite passage and should be read by fundamentalists, whom I call "tinkling cymbal" Christians.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

I generally try to frame this within Acts 10, wherein God sent Peter a vision (actually two visions - Peter was a good guy but was never the sharpest knife in the drawer) to tell him to forget about all that "unclean" stuff.

Back when most people - because most didn't know any better - thought homosexuality was a choice, I can understand misinterpretation. But now that we know beyond doubt that sexual orientation is established at birth. there's no excuse for calling or considering anyone "unclean" because of their sexuality.

Fri Mar 19, 2021, 03:52 PM

People knew back then that not everybody is born strictly male or strictly female. While teaching about the sanctity of marriage, Jesus said, "Not everybody can accept this teaching, but only those to whom it is given. For some are born eunuchs, and some have been made eunuchs by others, and some have made themselves eunuchs." He said, "Let everyone accept this who can." Matthew 19:12. These people read in short snatches, as though their attention flickers in and out. And then they over-extrapolate. When the Book of Genesis says, "Male and female, God created them," it does not stop there, but somehow that is all these people remember. When it says, "Thou shalt bear no false witness against someone," all they remember is "no false witness," and somehow they think it is a mortal sin to lie to a murderer about his intended victim's location. They start with pre-conceived notions and triumphantly snatch out phrases that support their pre-conceived notions.

Millennia ago as the caveman, crouched in fear of the thunder, one brave grifter saw his opportunity to gain power and forgo the hunt, thus was born religion.

purport to be more righteously so than me or you, and by definition closer to God's perfect vision of man (yes, I hear the irony), always seem to value the fire and brimstone version of Old testament God over the more forgiving and actively loving New testament Christ.

Likewise they seem to be selective in their choices of translation, editing, and era regarding their English language bible. King James version and that published since 1950 particularly seems to be a favorite. Often the people who are most outspoken in their pronouncements and fatwahs have little if any religious training or advanced study in the documents they claim to know so well. Nor are they aware of seeming contradictions found within the "Holy Book" and among the documents, various translations, and commentaries which formed the basis for that publication and the apocryphal material excluded from it.

It is important to understand who is directing and funding this institution in particular, and where FRC spend (yes! They do) lobbying money in Congress and elsewhere. 98% of it goes to GOP members and legislators. Much like the NRA they act as a front group for corporate donations to influence Congress and state legislators alike. When they attack LGBTQ people they do it representing the same corporate entities who paid to have Trump shoved into the White House.

They do this knowingly. So when you hear or read remarks like those in the latest Fatwah from FRC you should be aware that they are speaking for corporate enterprises, financial institutions, and extremely wealthy individuals who dare not be identified in public as holding these views or oppressing LGBTQ Americans.

IMO it is well past time when the FBI and Treasury should be investigating the finances of FRC and its like. The results will not sway those cultists for whom fear is an addiction and misogyny a weapon. However, it would be meaningful to unmask the wealthy interests who manipulate them and Congress.

Dammit.
I've come so far removing the guilt-trip bullshit the religion nutjobs attempted to deprive me of my life with so long ago. The long arm (distant relatives named Phelps) of the Westboro idiots very nearly succeeded in 1976. "Dog" intervened. Long story, I've been through so much therapy and self affirming treatment to overcome.
Some of the oddest image that comes to mind is that the exact church that whipped up the pack mentality had a huge wooden cross in front of it. I used to joke about who they were going to crucify.
Whoops.
Seems religion always has to find someone to demonize, without recognizing the demons that possess themselves.
