Idaho Legislature votes to halt session after multiple lawmakers infected with COVID-19

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Legislature voted Friday to hit pause on the 2021 session after multiple lawmakers became infected with COVID-19.

The motion to halt the session until noon on April 6, 2021 passed both the House and the Senate with a unanimous vote.

At least half a dozen lawmakers are currently positive for the virus.


Rep. Julie Yamamoto, R-Caldwell, Rep. Bruce Skaug, R-Nampa, Rep. Lance Clow, R-Twin Falls, Rep. Ryan Kerby, R-New Plymouth, Rep. Greg Chaney, R-Caldwell and Rep. James Ruchti, D-Pocatello, have all said they were infected.

Two Republican senators, Steve Baie and Van Burtenshaw, along with three House staffers and one Senate attaché, were previously out with COVID-19, but have since returned.

BOISE, Idaho — Two more lawmakers in the Idaho House of Representatives tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.





.............The increasing number of lawmakers out sick with the coronavirus has legislative leaders in the conservative state worried they may not be able to finish business in a timely fashion.

A major goal of GOP lawmakers this session has been curbing the emergency powers of the Republican governor to respond to things like pandemics.

Legislators have floated several proposals that would restrict Gov. Brad Little's ability to make sweeping directives in the future.

14. Went to a restaurant in Idaho Falls

None of the waitresses, cooks, people seating customers wore masks. These people are in contact with many customers daily, yet, no masks. I asked the manager if they had been vaccinated, or if vaccinations were available. She just shrugged. This is what trump and his merry typhoid Mary’s have created! 4th wave on track because of these morons!
