Cuomo Tells Supporter He's Not Resigning: 'I'm Not Going Anywhere, Darling'
Source: MediaIte
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) responded to a supporter on Monday, referring to her as darling and telling her he would not step down from his position.
I love you and you better stay where you are, weve got your back, a woman yelled to the embattled governor as he was entering a car. We love you, we need you at the finish line, you better stay.
With his mask down, Cuomo yelled back, Im staying!
Before getting in the car Cuomo said, Alright, Im not going anywhere, darling.

Thank you Gov!!

Im sure there is video of many people using the word darling.
Ava Gabor (Green Acres) comes to mind. It was her calling card.

(1,652 posts)terms of affection. It can be comforting, esp. to those of use who did not grow up hearing them a lot from their parents, I love hearing them from men or women (depending on context of course--it's more common for older people to use them). These terms are not automatically sexist or harassing. Nor is touching someone on the back, etc. It depends on the intent of the person doing it.

(16,950 posts)Cuomo and using that as an applause line for her self-promoting rallies. She is accusing other people of doing what she is actually doing - playing politics, but shes couching it in sexual harassment accusations, which she obviously thinks make her untouchable. We see her.

(4,552 posts)I also support Cuomo and how he handled the COVID debacle.
His elevation to national stature wasnt an accident or ill placed. He made me and a LOT of other New Yorkers feel really grounded when we were afraid to go to the store and get food. He showed leadership when it was lacking at the heart of our country.
I might be oversimplifying some of this but dammit, NY could have been in so much worse shape. He has kept the pandemic spread to a very low level compared to other states. And countries.

(15,278 posts)are just such condescending terms when said to women by total strangers or service employees. Women feel just as comfortable using these terms as me. But you rarely, if ever, hear men called sweetie, honey, dear, etc.
