'SoHo Karen' Sued for False Imprisonment, 'Violent Incident of Racial Profiling' Against

Source: Law & Crime

Against Jazz Musician’s Teen Son

Miya Ponsetto, the woman who falsely accused a Black teen of stealing her cell phone in a New York City hotel the day after last Christmas, was sued civilly Wednesday morning by the teen and his parents.

Video of Ponsetto’s December 26, 2020 altercation went viral when the teen’s father, Keyon Harrold, posted it on Instagram.

The named plaintiffs in the case, filed in New York State Supreme Court for the County of New York, are Keyon Harrold, Jr., and his parents Keyon Harrold and Katty Rodriguez. The defendants are Arlo Soho, LLC; Quadrum Hospitality Group, LLC; 2REN, LLC; Chad Nathan, and Ponsetto. The various corporate defendants are said to have “owned, maintained, controlled, and secured the premises” where the incident occurred and “undertook to provide security at the business known as the Arlo Soho Hotel . . . to protect individuals thereupon.” Defendant Nathan was a manager at the hotel, the court documents state.

The case is styled as Harrold v. Arlo Soho LLC.

Perhaps after several dozen more karens get sued to hell and back, it’ll start to sink in that their actions have consequences.

The hotel security cameras show her tackle the youth and throw him to the floor, which she denied until the security camera video made a liar out of her.

and others have, that aided and perpetuated this injustice against the teenager and his family. Make sure that they end up on the streets broke (figuratively speaking) for she/others that aided her didn't care about his rights what-so-ever. Make crime pay in reverse, that is, victims deserve a just compensation. This even, IMHO, ranks as a hate crime too.

Just give the Harrold family everything you own, take out full page ads with an apology in all NYC newspapers and in the newspapers in the locations where the LLCs are registered. Then go away.

I tried to Google it again but couldn’t find it. But it was great to see an actual arrest of the entitled woman.

The plaintiffs are suing everyone with any connection whatever, to the event. That is because the proper defendant does not have enough money to make it worthwhile. I have had the distinctly unpleasant experience of being the target of one of these. This bothers me.

In the suit.

I had a situation where a crop duster was supposed to spray the soybeans on the farm next door but he kept his plane low over my property and did not turn off the spray as he passed over. This caused two problems - I reacted to the spray which was strong enough to kill insects inside my house; and also spooked my weanlings and a filly came in with an injured leg.

I threatened to sue the crop duster but my attorney told me that I would also have to sue the property owner, the manufacturer of the chemicals that were sprayed, and the leasee who was raising the soy beans on the place next door. Instead of doing that, I talked to the property owner. He was incensed - I had complained previously about the crop duster and he had told the leasee to make sure that the crop duster was more responsible about only covering the crops and not the entire neighborhood. Since the guy with the lease had not followed this agreement the property owner jerked his lease. He was allowed to collect the crop that was growing but was not allowed to have it sprayed again, and the lease ended once the crop was harvested.

And in trying to get the young man to prove it was his phone. The manager asked the young man to show the woman his phone. Keyon Harrold refused to let his son to do this which is when the woman went ballistic.

The manager was helping the woman who was NOT a guest at the hotel, rather than two registered guests. He messed up big time and the hotel did nothing afterward to ease the situation.

As I recall, before she confronted this teenager,
she confronted a couple other guests while the management watched her and did nothing.
