Retired Philly police officers apologize for fund-raising effort blaming George Floyd for his own death

A group of retired Philadelphia police officers apologized Friday for a Thursday fund-raising email that blamed George Floyd for his own death and claimed former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is on trial for a murder he did not commit
Protect Our Police PAC said it fired a national marketing firm that sent the plea for donations, calling it tactless messaging that does not reflect the values or views of the group.
Chauvins actions were examples of bad policing and poor training that directly caused George Floyds death, in my opinion Protect Our Police President Nick Gerace said in an email. The kind of messaging and innuendo included in that single email is not in line with our mission and I vehemently denounce it.
The group was launched last year to challenge Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasners bid for a second term this year and to support candidates around the country seen as pro-police.

(128,958 posts)There had been so much money spent by the city on settlements for wrongful arrests and all kinds of other civil rights violations in cahoots with the criminal cabal in the DA's office...
And now with Krasner cleaning out the place, they're whining because planting of evidence and railroading innocent members of the public in order to secure a conviction and make it look like someone is "tough on crime", is no longer the default mode of operation.

Look at "changing positions and beliefs" with both eyes and with extreme caution.
Blaming Floyds death on bad policing and bad TRAINING when it was a bad COP! And supposedly good cops did nothing.

(80 posts)You're sorry you got caught and sorry you attacked George for his own murder by Chauvin. We all saw the murder and it was blatant murder by a rogue cop. Not buying it.
