DeSantis sues CDC over cruise restrictions
Source: Axios
Why it matters: The CDC issued new guidance this week to allow cruise ships to begin trial runs before returning to normal operations. But DeSantis wants the cruises which are a large industry in coastal Florida to be allowed to resume immediately, the Miami Herald reports.
"We dont believe the federal government has the right to mothball a major industry for over a year based on very little evidence and very little data. I think we have a great chance for success," DeSantis said on Thursday.
Reality check: Cruises were some of the first super-spreaders for the coronavirus in 2020.

(9,988 posts)all passengers and crew to be vaccinated, which means passengers will have to show proof of vaccination. How will DeSantis square his demand for cruise ships to operate with his demand that no one be required to show proof of vaccination? Republicans just never know when to shut up and get out of the way.
The cruise industry will take precautions because none of them want to become the floating disease shipsand morguesthey were last year.

Im sure many of you read about it.

Leaving port, everyone catches what everyone else has. And then, when that's over, everyone is very, very healthy. Uncannily healthy. Until you enter port again.
But cruise ships stay out just long enough for the epidemics to spread. Then they return to port, and pick up a new group of people to start a new ship wide epidemic.
