DeSantis sues CDC over cruise restrictions

Source: Axios

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Thursday announced he has filed a lawsuit against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, demanding cruise ships be "reopened immediately."

Why it matters: The CDC issued new guidance this week to allow cruise ships to begin trial runs before returning to normal operations. But DeSantis wants the cruises — which are a large industry in coastal Florida — to be allowed to resume immediately, the Miami Herald reports.

"We don’t believe the federal government has the right to mothball a major industry for over a year based on very little evidence and very little data. I think we have a great chance for success," DeSantis said on Thursday.

Reality check: Cruises were some of the first super-spreaders for the coronavirus in 2020.

This is why businesses donate money to politicians, to get them to do their dirty work for them on issues like this.

all passengers and crew to be vaccinated, which means passengers will have to show proof of vaccination. How will DeSantis square his demand for cruise ships to operate with his demand that no one be required to show proof of vaccination? Republicans just never know when to shut up and get out of the way.

The cruise industry will take precautions because none of them want to become the floating disease ships—and morgues—they were last year.

Last April she Died while on the ship and they didn't let her companion know of her death until they came on land in Florida almost 2 weeks later. It was just horrible. And I'm sure Desantis knew that people died on this ship.
Im sure many of you read about it.

It'll only prove what a dunce DeSantis is when he won't let them come back to port because they're filled with contagious people.

While I can see a cruise line suing to have some restrictions eased as the situation allows, I'm pretty sure it's not De Satan's job.

Only Dumdum could have persuaded him that it is.

let them go on their plague ships, get sick and die. There are enough idiots in this world; they probably all voted for DeSantis and tRump.

As an aside, I wonder if DeSantis would be first to board?

.. and on warships today... any boat that spends more than a week at sea....

Leaving port, everyone catches what everyone else has. And then, when that's over, everyone is very, very healthy. Uncannily healthy. Until you enter port again.

But cruise ships stay out just long enough for the epidemics to spread. Then they return to port, and pick up a new group of people to start a new ship wide epidemic.
