Trumps speech didnt do any of that.
It was horrible, it was long and negative, one attendee with a donor in the room tells Playbook. It was dour. He didnt talk about the positive things that his administration has done.
...snip...
Many major donors have been fed up with Trumps antics since Jan. 6. While Trump was speaking, we spotted at least two both of whom received prominent appointments during his administration out dining with friends at a local restaurant in Palm Beach rather than sitting through the former presidents dinner at Mar-a-Lago.

(20,453 posts)There are always articles about how Republicans secretly hate Trump. They criticize him but its always behind closed doors or anonymously, and we hear about it second hand.
If all these Republicans really hated Trump, they wouldnt have voted for him. But they clearly did. What they do or say privately means nothing if they support him publicly. Their public positions are the only ones that matter.
