MyPillow files $1.6 billion countersuit against Dominion Voting Systems
Source: CNBC
This is a free-speech case. This is a First Amendment case, Lindell said on a livestreamed broadcast announcing the lawsuit.
The election-technology firm Dominion sued MyPillow and Lindell in February, accusing them of spreading the false claim that the company rigged the 2020 election for President Joe Biden by manipulating votes. Former President Donald Trumps campaign and his allies lost dozens of lawsuits in their sweeping effort to overturn key states election results and flip the outcome of the race.
Dominion is seeking more than $1.3 billion in punitive and compensatory damages, saying the viral disinformation campaign spread by Lindell and others has irreparably damaged the companys reputation. Dominion has filed similar lawsuits against Trumps lawyer Rudy Giuliani, attorney Sidney Powell and Fox News.

(736 posts)Lindell is saying that Dominion should have sued him directly and not MyPillow specifically? Well, then, Dominion (if they haven't already) should file another suit against Mike Lindell directly.

(571 posts)...of "You don't sue me, I sue you!", and I fully expect this to be as successful as this always is. Which is not much. Free speech doesn't mean I can defame some entity that doesn't have a high public profile because I buy into some batcrap crazy hoax. Unlike My Pillow, Dominion doesn't advertise on television or in any common media outlet, so while they be open to ridicule or satire, they aren't open targets for lies that can potentially drive them out of business. These right wing doofi will learn everybody can't be bullied.

(43,123 posts)This is tied up in projection too. Trump was the one who wanted to curtail the press for its "fake news", or should I make that "FAKE NEWS!!!!!!!!!".
This countersuit seems to me an effort to maintain the monopoly for the right wing on fake news. But it's just an opinion.

(14,169 posts)And Dershowitz will ask for the money up front. He defended a President that tried to extort a foreign leader by withholding congress approved funding unless he makes up some fake news about his rival's son. So he obviously does not care what anyone thinks of him anymore. Anyone decent that is.

So basically Mike couldn't find outside lawyers to do it so he's making the ones who work for him embarrass themselves for his ego.

(17,911 posts)Just goes to show, you can dig up lawyers to file damn near anything. Just like lawsuits about a "stolen" election that wasn't stolen, because there's no evidence of anything being stolen.
