Albuquerque refers Trump campaign's unpaid rally bill to collection agency

Source: https://www.salon.com

The city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, has referred the Trump campaign's unpaid rally debt to a collections agency, according to Mayor Tim Keller.

Trump left office with nearly $2 million in unpaid bills from cities that hosted his campaign rallies, including a $211,175 invoice from Albuquerque, stemming from his 2019 event in Rio Rancho.

"We decided to bill him because the costs to the city were tremendous," Keller told The Daily Show's Jordan Klepper this week. "They made us shut down downtown. We had to close City Hall. … In my mind, he owes us a lot more because there were about a day and a half where we couldn't even function as a city."

The bill includes costs for extra police protection, security measures and paid leave for city employees who were forced to stay home. But as of roughly 18 months later, Keller said that "no phone calls have been returned, so we hired a collection agency."

Anyone else happen to see this??

Mr. "I'm a billionaire" shows once again what a frikkin deadbeat he is when it comes to paying his bills.

What a standup guy – and the fools keep sending him money.

Any eventual settlement should have the requirement of coming out of his pocket personally - with a very large penalty, plus cost to the municipality making the claim.

4. Repossession of that hellhole, insect infested Mar-a-Fuego should be good for 100K of his debt.

No more extra security unless money is in escrow.

Otherwise, warn locals to avoid the area at the time.

....just don't pay your bills, but have lawyers that can get you out of anything.

Such a paragon of virtue , but that's not why the MAGAt's idolize him. I think it's more for stuff just like this.

That's why he's had so many over the years. Apparently he feels he doesn't have to pay anybody. I remember reading here on DU that he refused to pay the company that catered his wedding to wife #3, told the owner that she could "use his name" instead and she nearly went out of business since he actually owed so much. After what happened with Trump Steaks, Vodka and especially University, you'd think he'd realize that isn't working for him...

All those rally should have been billed to the RNC,
, anyway. Why should local taxpayers take it on the chin?
