Americans give Biden mostly positive marks for first 100 days, Post-ABC poll finds
Source: Washington Post
President Biden nears the end of his first 100 days in office with a slight majority of Americans approving of his performance and supporting his major policy initiatives, but his approval rating is lower than any recent past presidents except Donald Trump, with potential warning signs ahead about his governing strategy, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Overall, 52 percent of adults say they approve of the job Biden is doing, compared with 42 percent who disapprove. At this point in his presidency four years ago, Trumps rating was nearly the reverse, with approval at 42 percent and disapproval at 53 percent. Overall, 34 percent of Americans say they strongly approve of Bidens performance, compared with 35 percent who strongly disapprove.
Biden receives the highest marks for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, with 64 percent of adults including 33 percent of Republicans giving him positive ratings. His approval rating for his handling of the economy stands at 52 percent. But 53 percent say they disapprove of the way he has dealt with the immigration situation at the U.S.-Mexico border, a problem that has vexed his administration for much of its first months.

(10,075 posts)Not sure what their agenda is but it is BS.
These are sincere questions:
Why do you think this is b.s.?
What are you seeing here that leads you to that conclusion?

(792 posts)Everyone around me just seems so much more relaxed. We're finally taking COVID 19 seriously as a country. The vaccine is here and soon everyone will have it and we can reopen the economy. Even local mask-wearing has become more serious (fully covering the nose and mouth, double masking when possible) with many places cracking down on half-wearers.
The border numbers will come up once we clear the backlog. After the backlog is cleared we'll be able to welcome a steady flow of new American citizens each year. I think the Biden/Harris administration is the one to finally pass immigration reform.

(92,438 posts)10 point lead sounds pretty good to me, especially in context with the division and hate trump sowed for the last four years between Americans
That being said I am not optimistic about 2022, especially with the voter suppression laws that are being pushed through by Republican legislatures in various states
The biggest risk to our democracy is the Republican Party, and fox. There are too many people on the right who want a dictatorship with them in control.

(14,085 posts)is Dems thinking their vote won't matter because of the new voter laws that favor Republicans. We need to make sure turnout is still high regardless of laws so we at least have a chance to win.

(22,672 posts)I know about every democrat that thought something else about Biden who are gleeful about what they're seeing. They're using acronyms like FDR when describing his actions.

We Dems on the other hand, maybe we're too over-the-top. We're still having our love affair with Joe Biden, and I hope it never ends.

(25,684 posts)and working with Republicans, it must be his fault he couldn't do it and that's why he didn't have a higher approval rating. Always a negative tone when it comes to Democrats.
Incredible that Trump had a pretty high approval rate at the same time period, but it's never reported that Republicans have no connection to reality. In February 2017, Republicans polled who said the economy was getting better increased to 70% from 15% right before the 2016 election.

(3,261 posts)The GOPers I understand - it's purely ideological. But for the truly Independent, I can't imagine how/why they don't see the clear pattern that Democrats are much better for the economy.
