Kamala Harris Defends Handling of Immigration: Migrant Surges Are 'Not Going to be Solved Overnight'

Source: Mediaite

By Ken Meyer Apr 25th, 2021, 10:21 am

Vice President Kamala Harris defended her efforts to deal with the immigration crisis ever since President Joe Biden tasked her with addressing the ongoing situation at the U.S. southern border.

In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Harris said she was approaching immigration as an issue from the perspective that “most people don’t want to leave home” unless they are forced to by desperate circumstances. She continued to say that in her diplomacy efforts with the Northern Triangle to address the root causes of immigration, “we have to give people some sense of hope that if they stay that help is on the way.”

As Harris spoke about the Biden administration’s efforts and calls she had with the heads of state in Central America, Bash asked her if she intends to travel to the Northern Triangle.

Yes,” Harris answered. “We’re working on the plan to get there. We have to deal with Covid issues, but I can’t get there soon enough in terms of personally getting there.”

damp them down is to keep the media focus on innocent children and christian Americans' duty to 'welcome the stranger' as the Bible says.

She's a mom. She can appeal to mom voters of both parties. We're trying here for building her future-looking base in 2024.

I don't care how she handles it; no one's perfect, but whatever the outcome, she gets credit for the improvements Biden makes.

It's a combination of bad American policy in Central America and a bad immigration policy at this end. It's not just a border enforcement problem, its a deeply rooted political and economic problem that is largely the result of American interference in Central America for generations. This administration along with Democratic congressional and senate leadership, actually have a real grasp on the problem and it will get resolved.

Now, weeks after their first demands, they have gone almost totally silent as Harris has blunted their sad effort to control her.

Game, set, match!
