Asian American Attacks: San Francisco Police Identify Suspect in Market Street Stabbing of 2 Women

Police in San Francisco on Wednesday identified the man arrested for stabbing two older Asian women in the citys Mid-Market area Tuesday afternoon.
Police said during the course of their investigation into the stabbing, officers obtained an image of the suspect. Officers from the Tenderloin Station recognized the suspect from prior contact and identified him as 54-year-old San Francisco resident Patrick Thompson.

would really like a better picture of this attacker. you'd think the media would have a picture already with the guy's name and address

(2,045 posts)Unless there is a threat to the public. There are studies that show releasing them perpetuates racism. The accused are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, and the mugshots live on the internet for those aquitted.

(2,045 posts)And that goes to why SFPD has that policy. He might have been innocent, and released without charges.
Also, those posts are from anonymous law enforcement. We know that law enforcement has a bad history with PoC (assuming the pic in post 10 is him), so I am not certain they are the right folks to take anonymous info from.

He is clearly a habitual criminal. Whomever in the legal system that let him out to terrorize more people needs to be held accountable.
