Two women and a 4-year-old girl, believed to be innocent bystanders, were wounded in a shooting at New York's Times Square on Saturday, according to New York police.

has some of the most restrictive gun regulations (unless you are rich) in the USA.

a 17 page document that contains the application form to get a handgun license.
a 13 page application for a rifle/shotgun permit.

Fingerprints taken for both (but fingerprints for one cannot be used for another - 2 permits = 2 sets of prints).

The application fee for a handgun license is $340, for a Rifle/Shotgun permit is $140 plus fingerprints $88.25.

Somehow, I don't think criminals are going to go thru all of that.

Somehow, I don't think anyone is in fact, arguing criminals are going to go through all that. The expressed sentiment did not mention laws, criminals or irresponsible owners. In fact, you're the only one who mentioned them at all.

The expressed sentiment merely implied that fewer firearms would result in fewer firearm deaths. Ergo, I can certainly understand why you'd rather argue a different point no one made.
