Biden voices support for a cease-fire in a call with Israel's Netanyahu.

Source: New York Times

President Biden expressed support for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas on Monday during a call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. In a readout of Mr. Biden’s call, White House officials said the president “expressed his support for a cease-fire and discussed U.S. engagement with Egypt and other partners towards that end.”

The statement fell short of an immediate demand for an end to Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza, which has been met with rocket fire by Hamas from Gaza into Israel. The White House also said Mr. Biden “reiterated his firm support for Israel’s right to defend itself against indiscriminate rocket attacks.”

The Biden administration had previously avoided the use of the term “cease-fire,” with top officials like Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken talking instead about the need for a “sustainable calm” and others talking about the need for “restraint.” While a cease-fire would be welcomed by the White House, Mr. Netanyahu has in recent days made clear that he intended to continue bombing until Israel has destroyed Hamas’s stockpile of rockets, launchers, and the tunnels from which Hamas fighters are operating.

“We’re trying to degrade Hamas’s terrorist abilities and to degrade their will to do this again,” Mr. Netanyahu said on Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “So it will take some time. I hope it won’t take long, but it’s not immediate.” So far, Israel has rejected efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States to broker a cease-fire. And Hamas has continued its rocket fire into Israel.

"Why doesn't Biden DO SOMETHING!", (they screeched all day)...but...but...oh never mind."

Looks like he's already been on this path with Netanyahu. Because THIS IS WHAT President Joe Biden Does.

They damned near tripped over each other damning the President...all the while he was negotiating a solution.

Fools. 🙄 they don't Know Joe.

Sadly people are losing their lives, but if Biden reflexively acts it could result in more deaths.

In their defense, the nation of Israel has been under the gun and threatened from the first day of their existence in 1948. Israel never vowed to "drive them into the sea" as the surrounding Arab countries have done for the last 70+ years.

about this issue. But what "big stick" are you talking about? He has called for a cease fire as everyone has. What "path" has he been with Netanyahu?

Although the fact that apparently the US are blocking resolutions in the UN might make that a little tricky.

Israel's missiles aren't being met with rockets, Hamas' rockets are being met with missiles since Hamas launched first.

They didn't leave so the rocket attacks occurred.

This is why Biden won't call out Israel and even the Arab nations are split, firing rockets is Hamas response to everything.

So why would they subject the Palestinian people to that by making the first strike? I forgot terrorist don't care about the women and children they hide behind that's why we call them terrorists.

In East Jerusalem, and again Israel has control over their own responses, they literally encircle Gaza and have them walled in. The airstrikes are completely unnecessary except as collective punishment of the civilian population. All this will do is further radicalize the Palestinians.

Their rockets launches are designed to provoke a response from Israel so they can try and play the victim after attacking first. This time not even all the Arab country's are backing their callous stupidity and indifference to the safety of their own people.

killed will be broken. Land grabbing will resume and as long as Palestinians allow Israel to do as they please, breathing gets a little easier. If they get tired of having less and less, barely surviving and decide to fight back, everything starts over again, including false equivalencies.

What a fucked up world we live in, all over the planet, minorities are always the targets of some sort of oppression.

It isn't that simplified.
And Palestine's hands are as dirty as Israel.

HAMAS doesn't give a shit about Palestinians.
That is evident as they embed their weapons within locations that allow them to use human beings as a shield.

HAMAS has their own agenda based on who's funding them.

This is far deeper than 2 warring factions.

for a hell of a lot less. Remember those weapons of mass destruction?
Israel is surrounded by terrorist supporting nations. Hamas doesn’t give a damn about those poor suffering Palestinians.
