Newly released records appear to show a broad push by the Trump administration to use the federal governments expansive powers at the southern border to stop and question lawyers, activists and journalists.
ProPublica reports that two lawyers were interrogated by members of US Customs and Border Patrols secretive Tactical Terrorism Response Team because they were suspected of providing assistance to the migrant caravan as it made its way through Mexico at the time a focus of both the administration and right-wing media.
Officials speculated that immigration lawyers were seeking to profit by moving migrants through Mexico, and that Antifa may have been involved.
Public interest law firm and advocacy group, the Santa Fe Dreamers Project, provided ProPublica with the records having received them through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

(8,287 posts)But what I meant was that 45 labeled the riots after George Floyds death were orchestrated by some organization run by anti fascists. They called them antifa probably because they knew they were on the wrong side of history but that the idiots shouting Antifa were some kind of terrorists. Your link did point that out. Violence used to stop fascism.
What Im trying to say is that protest marches after George Floyds murder were mostly peaceful. Even here in Switzerland, we held a couple of covid aware silent protests. The riots were caused by provocateurs on both sides because people suck. Those screaming about antifa and BLM creating riots, looting and property damage were pointing fingers instead of finding out how systematic racism hurts everyone!

(5,128 posts)Here in Minneapolis, it has become more and more apparent that all of the rioting was done by right wing provocateurs only. They have been getting identified and arrested as time has passed. In other words, the right wing planted them there to discredit the real protest and to get these peons to stop thinking they have a voice and to get back to work! I do love the shrugging and the blank looks from the ranking rethugs who do not want to be indicted but know they were actively involved. But, you did quote one of my good friends. He always says it. People. Suck. (His whole spiel was that all people suck, but a few of us realize that we do, and try to not suck as much.)

(2,571 posts)attack anyone willing to oppose the Whites only agenda being sought by U.S. Republican conservatives: Even Crooked AG Barr had to publicly deny there is any organized effort identified by the name antifa.
And look who rants on and on about antifa, conservative talking heads and conservative media.
FBI Dir. Wray also included such a statement, saying there is no organized antifa and all the arrested have been linked to militias, not any left wing organization.

(2,571 posts)not scientific or scholarly but propaganda. Smithsonian and Scientific American were both taken over, editorially by the people of the Koch network. all ot took was money to take control.
Neither publication has been credible since they both became quite racist and busy re-writing and interpreting history.
The changes happened in the 90s and were quite noticeable.
The worst offenses in articles are the ones downplaying the role of fossil fuel in climate change.
The 2nd worst offenses are in history and cultural reporting and how the mags are now used to promote dishonest conservative talking points.
It is like NPR before 2001 and NPR now. NPR Now is now just another Koch propaganda operation, less than 25% of funds are tax money so the private money took control of content and now it is anti-democratic, racist and as Republican as Fox news, they just use more refined language and instead of attacking ideas they dislike they use their nasty voiced talkers to oversell them knowing they are creating opposition to feminism. LGBTQ, religious and skin color by being so snarky. It is like an inside joke.
