The jury read out its verdict on Monday afternoon inside a federal courthouse in Fargo, N.D.: Guilty.

A few minutes later, the defendant’s attorney noticed him pulling at his collar. “What the hell are you doing?” the lawyer asked, a witness to the scene recounted to WDAY News.

That’s when blood started gushing from his neck.

“He had slit his neck with some object. There was blood all over the walls in the courtroom, and the Marshals had wrestled him to the floor,” the witness told WDAY. “You could hear him screaming, ‘I can’t breathe.’”

The FBI confirmed to the Associated Press that the defendant died in the courtroom after cutting his own throat with an unknown object.

that the defendant was:

Jeffrey Sahl Ferris, 55, who was accused of nearly running over seven children last year and threatening one child with a gun.

Not sure how he was making a political statement (I assume) over the crime he commited.

And wanted to show that he would rather perish than do one thing to show any acceptance. Considering his crime, I am not exactly torn up about it. Chasing children with a car and pointing a gun at one is just too evil. And, he showed his true self by not being a responsible adult and taking his licks. I certainly see political overtones in his action. He did not want to allow 'libruls' to have control over his life, nor admit that what he did was in any way wrong because of 'reasons'. He sounds like slime to me, but I do admit I do not know all of the facts and may be engaging in a bit of a rant here.

Political Discourse Rule Number One: Do NOT involve children in your plans to 'stick it to the libs', or any political discourse. In such a situation, they are just 'props' to try and garner sympathy and attention. And, it is a slimy move in my opinion.

He stuck himself. He may have avoided his sentence, but I bet those last few minutes of life were excruciating. Stabbing yourself in the neck must be... I mean you know it is gonna fucking hurt and you’ll experience what it is like to drown on top of that because of the blood.

He traded years in prison for a few minutes of extreme suffering. Those last few dreadful minutes of his life became his punishment. And I bet those last few moments felt a lot goddamn longer than they actually were.
